I dunno if it's all Mooch's fault..we never had high expectations on Mooch; he only is used during garbage time this season no doubt..but I have a problem with Francis our POINT GUARD. Point guards are supposed to pass the rock and think about assists rather than shots. Ever since Yao came, review after review by everybody was to pass more to Yao. Every game we lost we said yao didnt have enough of the ball..not enough touches, etc. And every game Francis shoots more than Yao...and his shots percentage wasn't high either. Is Francis deluded? Does he use his head when playing? Does he read the sports section of the newspaper? Even when Yao played the sonics a couple of days ago we complained of how he didn't get enough touches...I think the rockets should trade him for Andre Miller. Miller was great at assists even when playing at scrub teams. Francis on the other hand..has the tallest player and one of the most skillful players in the NBA and still doesn't know how to use him, causing us to lose more games. I think it's a crime for Francis since he is averaging too little assists. Is it his disease of his migraine headaches that makes him not listen to reality and what the millions of fans are wanting and prolly van gundy wants which is pass the ball to Yao. Well he is beginning to become a headache to us if he doesnt change his game. Judging from the 4 years he's been here and 4 years of no playoffs, he doesn't seem to want to change his game.
He should know his role or WE should deport him for Andre Miller.

This is going to be another 300 replies thread with Francis and Yao's fans yelling at one another.

Your post is either a season too late, or a few weeks too early.
Give JVG a chance to mold this team, and then we can carry on with the banter.

Ahhhh, another one sees the light!

    Welcome danielk!

    :D

I agree with TECH, I'm in "wait and see" mode...the season is about to start. So, it's not about debating the PG position. It's about watching them play right now.

The starting five and bench have not be determined. So, let's just wait until the season really starts.

u have angered the francis within me.... why the hate for arguably the second best point in the League. and yes yao is great and all, but he was still a rookie, and he was tired during the final minutes of a game, so francis had to take over. and his assist numbers arnt that bad. hes second all time on rox

I think it's brilliant that you started a thread about Francis being hardheaded and/or selfish. That's very perceptive on your part.Nobody in here has EVER started any thread at all on that subject. It's so nice to have a topic that's so fresh and new.

Ah, you beat me to saying that!

Seriously though, do all of you people honestly think you're the first ones to come up with a "Francis needs to get Yao the ball more" thread?

And when did Andre Miller go to the playoffs again? At least Francis has come close.

I'm glad this issue with Francis being the PG was posted, AGAIN. The problem hasn't been resolved and ignoring it won't make it go away.

If you don't like the message, don't ****in open the thread.

You'd think these guys would prefer Yao and four scrubs. Ask Moses Malone how that works out.

All of our players have individual strengths and weaknesses. I root for each guy to make the Rockets better. Why tear one down to pump the other up.

I for one think the Yao/Stevie duo under JVG is destined for big things.

    Go Rockets.

I'd like to listen first. What does Francis think is a great player. Let's listen to his answer. We owe him that.

In my view a great player makes his teammates and team better...especially a point guard...it is a proven formula to winning. A great player knows he is the last option. He'll first make the TEAM (not an individual player) hard to guard. Once the opposing team is kept guessing, then team offense becomes easy. Magic & Bird understood the power of this and were probably winners since the they were 9 years of age.

The season is early, so we really can't judge...but just watching today's game vs. the Hornets, all I can say is I've seen Francis play a better floor game. It is hoped that we'll see better games.

Hey it's preseason...so I'm not going to sweat it.

This is the make or break season for the Franchise at Point Guard . He must be given every support and encouragement. Only make a firm opinion after 82 games of JVG Coaching. So far in this short Preseason it looks like its going to be more of the same old stuff!!! No! Sit back, just relax and await JVGs Magic touch!

    BINGO!

Keep them guessing! That's the only way.

Nash does it, Marbury does it. Payton does it. And the greats did it too; Isiah, Oscar, and Magic.

Okay if you want to know why Steve will never mesh with Ming here is why since alot of people haven noticed this yet.

When Ming is wide open,as all players get open,he is only open for about 2-3 seconds before the defense finds him and guards him. This happens to every player even shaq. When you move without the ball you get open, but only for about 2-4 seconds before every defense responds.

Its in this 2-3 second window that makes the great point guards. The best like Magic and Stockton thread the needle and pass to Malone or Jabbar for a open layup before the defender sees it coming.

Francis isnt a bad player. He has athletism .I wouldnt call him stupid. However he just flat out has slow reaction timing. He is not a pg and never will. It takes him longer than 2 seconds to notice Ming open and by the time he does notice its to late and its either a turnover or Francis has to pause and just shot it himself.

I wouldnt call him selfish. He is looking around for the open man,he either has bad vision,or bad timing. A coach cant fix this. He is the new breed tweener. Like Marbury and Wade. Too short for a sg,and not a pure pg. It will never work. Btw,he also is our second best offensive player,so how can he score his 30,when he also is trying to look around to find the open man? It cant be done. How many players in nba history have averaged 25 pts/9 assists in a year?

But you cant move him to sg because he will be destroyed defensively even worse and Gundy knows it. We are screwed. And his contract is a b**** so forget about trades.
