Do you guys see that? Francis has a very powerful right drive but whenever he drives to the left, it's a jump shot. Actually not many players can drive to both directions. AI is one, Boby Jackson is another... It may be naive to think that the defender can ignore Francis's left fake totally... but it seems to me though..
It was either at the end of regulation or the end of OT (can't remember), Francis drove left into the lane out of control and threw the ball away to Robert Horry. However on the next possession he again drove left strong all the way to the bucket for a layup to tie the score. Try harder next time...
and that's only one example among many. one that sticks out in an earlier game, i think it was against the bucks (or maye it was the kings?), francis set up on the lft wing, drove left past his man, all the way in for a right handed slam at the from of the rim. there are many, many others. however, i wouldn't mind it at all if defenders ignored Stevie French Fries's left fake, and i guaranteee Steve wouldn't mind it either; the more highlight dunks for him the better, right!
oh, and AI cannot drive left consistently...sorry. my friends and i joke about it all the time. notice that 85% of the time when AI goes left he pulls up for the jumper...as most right handed players do. that said, many great nba players are "one arm bandits". dominique wilkins was the worst about it. dude wouldn't go left if you cut his right hand off, yet still scored at will due to ridiculous athleticism.
Most right-handed guys move left to shoot but right to drive. Because Francis is shooting well over 40 percent for the year, guys simply cannot fall back on his jumpshot. As a result, they have to guard him in both directions. Obviously, they'd rather him take a jumper than a layup, but it is suicide to leave either side open to him.
Exactly... Along with a list of other things Steve has been doing better this year, being able to go left and finish strong has to be one of them.
Steve can definitely go left. There arn't too many guards in the NBA who cant drive to the basket using either hand. There really arn't too many guards in highschool who cant drive to the basket using either hand. However like someone said, right handed shooters usually prefer going left when pulling up for a jumper and vice versa.
NOT EVEN KOBE COULD KEEP UP WITH HIM. Just wanted to say that. I think he can drive to the left. Many can. Steve drives in every single direction. He enters many dangerous areas.
What are you talking about? Steve is NOTORIOUS for being right-handed, yet always driving to his left. Mobley is the opposite; a lefty who always drives to his right. Their unorthodox style is just one reason why they are so tough to guard.
