If you are talking about what was said on the local news in Houston, then I saw it. They asked Francis how would playing with someone like Yao Ming affect his game. He replied that he has never played with anyone like that so it remains to be seen.

That is all that I recall. Francis looked subdued, not excited. Don't know exactly what to read into it. This was just a short clip, one question and one answer. Looked like that caught him at practice. Mobley was just there, did not say anything.

You know what was weird...at the draft, Francis was all smiles that we got the #1 pick. Now, he is all down and giving signs that he doesn't want Ming. How in the world can we please Mr. Franchise? I wish wish wish that we had kept our 94-95 championship team. Those guys had heart and wanted to play as a team. Now, all these players on this team are thinking they are all that and they BARELY HAVE EXPERIENCE IN THIS LEAGUE. They better grow some chemistry together when Ming arrives, or this team is screwed.

please him by not taking the huge risk of Ming. And get a 2 or 3 from a NBA team. Stevie just wants to win immediately, for a competitive basketball player there's nothing wrong with that.

Ming might work but don't b**** about Stevie because he's still gonna be the main man. Ming will be about 5.

You hit the nail on the head. Francis is afraid to play second fiddle on a winning team, he just wants to be the franchise !

Then you might want to tell Stevie to stop whining on TV and giving us his thoughts that he doesn't want Ming. He was the one smiling like an idiot on NBC when we won the 1st pick and specifically telling Amhad that he isn't going to pick J. Will. And where do you think specifically we need help at?!? UMM...AT CENTER!!

If Steve wants to win so bad, he should shut his mouth and let the GM and Coach (who have been doing this before Steve was born) do their job, they are picking who they think will be best on this team. We are giving him the max to play basketball, not to whine on national tv.

This might be a good time for RT and CD to resolve not to send an active team player to the Lottery of Draft again!

ummmm, just found out that jwill isnt coming for a workout. How come theres not a thread on this?We lost all leverage now by him not showing up.,Teams know now if we do draft jwill, they dont have to give us the farm since jwill wont want to play here anyways.I wanted to start a new thread but everyone would say "quit starting threads newbie".We are forced to take ming now.All you ming hatas like trg and such are now a mockery.Krouse called the rockets bluff(of us wanting to trade) ans has probably told jwill not to show here.We cant draft jwill, dunleavy is certainly not worth a #1,ming and china will be confussed if we draft and trade him in 10 minutes like troy baros suggested.Btw,the chinese and ming both watch this board, and see sites like "yao ming sucks " from elgrandequeso and wonder if houston is really the right place after all.

Prabable scenario, draft ming, francis gets mad, doesnt resign, china gets mad we lost steve, ming demands trade,no steve or ming, just cat and his tokeing buddy taylor.

WIN KNOW???? With who? Smokey(odom) and the bandits(mobley, moochie). That bunch is likely to beat LA, SAC, and Dallas.

I've said it before, i'll say it again. Francis is an arrogant child, who is in nowhere close to being a team player. Look at what he did when vancouver drafted him. That says alot about his charecter. We should explore trading him, for whatever we can get.

Please forgive me before I begin...

But some of you are acting like real b****es right now. I can't believe how two-face some of you are acting. The same people who are b****ing at Steve for having an opinion are the same ones who were riding his jock his first two years. How unreasonalbe can some of you be? This guy played with FREAKIN migranes last year, and some of you still had something to b**** about.
I can't believe it... the guy was a damn all-star, playing on a team with one quality NBA starter and was hurt 3/4 of the season.

I swear I think some of would trade Micheal Jordan if he was a Rocket.

To all the ones that get a kick out of dissing Steve... Wake the f*** up, and keep your lips of his a** when he's leading us to the playoffs next year! (With of Without MING)

I understand Francis, but in his world, he think they are good enough without a post presence. He thought the same 2 yrs ago when Dream was here and the team struggled until they decided to keep the big guy involved and happy. Francis and Mobley should open their eyes and look at what in front of them and how best to compete at a higher level.

All Francis and company have to do is look at the last time a guard oriented team has won the title. The last time that has happened was when the greatest player ever pulled it off, but he was a great post player himself. Francis can look no further than Gary Payton or Jason Kidd to see how many first rd exits they have been because of no inside game in the west. How many times has Payton made it out of the first rd since losing the former all star kemp. How many times did Kidd make it out in the west at all. Guard play is needed and fine, but if you don't have someone to do some work inside, those jumpers will not always go in. They need to look and see and stop worrying about getting buddies on this team.

Some people are overreacting to how Francis was on the news. All he did was stay calm with a straight face. There was nothing there indicating he did not want to play with Ming. It looks to me as if he did his best poker face for the situation, not to lead onto any certain direction. I guess some people are just never satisfied. Now I will get pissed if he says something very selfish pointing towards he wants to be the number 1 player on the team. I say until then we all wait and not to read into things too much b/c that never turns out that well. :)

Oh please. If that were the case he would have stayed in Vancouver where he would have been the star. He also wouldn't want Odom on the team. Francis being "greedy for the spotlight" has nothing to do with this. You're talking about a player that has played on a team with Charles Barkley and Hakeem Olajuwon. He just wants to win now. People are overreacting over a a 2 second T.V. interview, trashing the star player of your favorite team, for what? Wanting to win? Maybe Ming will help, from all accounts he will, but it's a big risk that might not payoff for a year or two. That's another year or two of possibly missing the playoffs. Any competitive person would want to make the playoffs.

This might be a good time for RT and CD to resolve not to send an active team player to the Lottery of Draft again!

    What does this solve!?

Yeah, lets trade our star player for anything just because he has an opinion and wants to win now. In fact, lets trade Mobley for wanting to trade for a talented SF to help the team. And lets get rid of that whiney little brat Eddie Griffin the next time he says he would like to play SF. That'll show the next FA or superstar player with an opinion that the Rockets mean business! It's obvious that Francis isn't a team player, he proved it by helping lead the Rockets to 45 wins, playing through severe migraines, and practically agreeing to re-up even after a disasterous season. That proves our point! Yeah, quality FA will just FLOCK to our front door after forcing out our franchise player for wanting to win now! Hey it worked for Chicago, look at all the success they've had the last few years!
