I am as caught up in Ming Mania as everyone else, BUT, back to nuts and bolts. Frances is the key. Will he stay healthy? Has he matured? Does he have more confidence in his teamates? WILL HE DRIVE THE TEAM, MAKE IT WORK, WILL IT TO WIN? These are the key questions that will soon be answered. Ming is an asset, make no mistake, BUT he is not the KEY asset. Next in line are the issues of Mobley's play and maturity. Will Griffin come of age, and become a defensive force. When will Taylor play back into shape? Will Rice make a real comeback? Who will surprise, shock us? Will the team jell, will we see real chemistry? Early signs are good. Let the games begin!

I never understand those who seems to be troubled by the mingmania, those who will and are taking pain to remind everyone that Franchise is still the man. just what you guys afraid of??????? I do not care who becomes the "MAN" as long as we can get championship!

I believe that Ming could and hopefully will have a huge impact; however, realistically, he is not our present basketball messiah, Frances is. He is the key to this team. If he is not in top form it is doubtful that we will be going to the playoffs. Just an opinion.

I totally agree with your sentiment. This team NEEDS Francis to step up as a leader. From what I've seen with him sitting next to Yao during stretches and driving Yao in his hummer to the golf game, he is stepping up in that role. I look forward to see both Yao and Francis killing west coast teams soon. :) Plus, I remember when Yao was asked if he knew anything of his teammates in Houston. His reply, "Of course I know Steve Francis. I spent a lot of time watching his commercials."
