Frances was interviewed by one of the Houston TV stations (I believe it was channel 13). He had a sock hat pulled over his head. Of course he was tired but he looked very subdued. He said the difference in the game was free-throw shooting and that the team had been working on it. No mention of Ming's stellar performance against two of the elite big men in the game. Odd.

Don't worry. It was just Steve's alter ego...Steven Frances. He lives in the Heights.

Well, we DID only miss one free throw, and Moochie blew that game against the Clippers after missing two key free throws, so he has a point....

Of course, I'm sure you saw the entire interview and heard every post game comment by Francis...right?

He means Yao=Duncan+Robinson, so the difference was
    free-throw :p

Another interesting interview I meant to report was with Morris on Rocket's Radio. When Gene Peterson commented to him about how well the Rockets had played, his response was that "we always play well against the Spurs." Geez, the Rockets lost the last 15 out of 16 games with the Spurs. Funny stuff.

Yeah, I was there down by the court when he said that -- I was like "Um . . . alright". Hopefully from this point onward we will "always play well against the Spurs".

Well we lost to Phoenix when Cat bricked 2 late...and then we lost to the Clipps when Mooch did the same thing.

I would say that whatever "THEY THINK" is helping them win.....GREAT !!

Compared to a couple of road losses on the west coast, the difference really was we nailed our gimme shots this game, so Yao's awesome performance aside, the difference in this game (vs. the other recent losses) was the free throw shooting.

While the Spurs have been amazingly successful against the Rockets as of late, their fans have a profound respect for the Rockets.
Nightmares of a DREAM may have something to do with that however. For now on,, their nightmares will also include Yao Ming.

I'm wondering if Steve doesn't have a little bit of envy that his spotlight is being shared a little. Maybe that's why some games yao doesn't get the ball. Who knows. Yao can be the best thing to happen to steve's game if he'll implement him the right way.

Well... those of you who saw the game... after Yao's follow-jam with 3 min left in the 4th, which set the crowd off and got Moochie bumpin' into his chest...

... as the rest of the team went off celebrating onto the bench, you could see Francis stlil sittin' on his butt on the sidelines (after getting knocked down on the drive that led to the follow)... and instead of celebrating the potential game-winning (not to mention spectacular) shot Yao made, he just looked frustrated, played with his mouthpiece, and smacked his hands together.

That's the only recent sign of less-than-great chemistry I've seen out there. Francis might've just be mad he didn't get the foul call... but, well, just keep the image in mind when we're trying to figure out the big picture of what's going on over time.

Why do a lot of people seem to think Steve is jealous of Ming??

Does anyone remember in last nights game when ming scored and him and Francis hugged? I believe ming was fouled on the play as well. Can't recall though. Their didn't seem to be any jealousy then.

maybe he is just frustrated with himself? after a bad game, I bet u will be frustrated at yourself.... I will......

FT is the difference.... it is.... Both Francis & Yao made all 7 of their freebies..... so its a complement for both of them.....:D

I too thought Steve sounded a little subdued in his post game interviews. I heard a clip on the radio(no not the whole round of questions), and steve just talked about how well they are passing AS A TEAM,how mooch came in and gave them a big boost, and how well KENNY has been playing on DUNCAN... . Anyways he only briefly said Yao was doing well at scoring when they give him the ball down low. Wow, our rookie center abuses last year's MVP and all he can say is he is scoring well down low...whatever. It seems the Spurs players have better things to say about Yao than our players do. If steve is all about winning you think he would be excited about this team now...he was a lot more excited about beating the spurs last year, of course, thats when he was the main weapon. Still, Steve can act anyway he wants, as long as it doesn't show on the court.

Isn't this a bit of nit-picking. Trying to find something that just is not there. It is obvious to the team, fans, coaches, and particularly Steve that as long as the big guy is involved we can run with the big guns in the west.

Steve is and always will be the vocal leader of this team. The team feeds off of his energy. Yao is a special player who can bring it every night. Steve looks to be learning how to play with Yao.

Remember that Steve has NEVER had a dominate big man to play with in either college or pros ( Hakeem does not count, dominate would not be a word to describe Hakeem in his last years with the Rocks) although, Steve did work well with Hakeem when he was actually trying.

This is an adjustment for everyone, including Yao since the Chinese national team's guards flat sucked.

We have the 3rd best record %-wise in the West and we have not even hit on all cylinders yet.

    Blatz-

These types of assertions are usually brought up by people who have something against specific players of their choosing Steve Francis, Yao Ming, whoever. I think they just have an incredibly skewed view of the world where black helicopters, controversies, and conspiracy theories must exist because they have an undue fascination positive or negative with specific players.

From the several actual games I've been at I haven't seen any evidence of animosity - quite the contrary, especially during the shoot arounds before games.
