I doubt I'll end up voting for him, but I'm tired of the Obama/Osama jokes. Seems like every time I discuss Obama with anyone for the first time, they make a joke about his name.

 

Well, both Obama and Osama represent very serious threats to the way of life of Americans. In that regard, they have common ground. And both have Muslim families.

 

It's just goes to show how far we still have to go as a country. The system is great, but the people are not there yet.

Our country will not have officially 'arrived' until we elect an ethnic minority to the White House. And no, a White woman doesn't count, although it would be a step in the right direction.

 

I didn't know Barak was a Muslim. Are you questioning his Christian credentials?

 

Hitler was white. John McCain is white. Makes you think. Hmmmm.....

 

You sir are truely a turd of a human being. Way to hold the mantle of white, republicanism high. Yet, I bet you wonder how republicans get the "redneck, good Ol boy" rap. Better yet, I bet you like it that way.

 

I'm black, but in a popularly elected government where 65-75% of the population is white (and white women outnumber the largest minority group 3-to-1, and they've had the right to vote for sixty years less than non-Southern blacks), this doesn't make a whole lotta sense.

 

Just stick to his middle name and there's no need for a slip up/joke or the like... whatever. He won't win anything anyway. The Dems anoint the wrong ones first every time around... the sacrificial lamb if you will. See figure 1.

To me this sounds like Ailes was making fun of GW Bush rather than Barack Obama.

 

I understand that. The issue here is when a person's ethnic background becomes a 'liability' in his/her bid for a public office. It's a shame when qualified Black/Hispanic candidates are unable to shake the 'stigma' of being an ethnic minority -- and therefore, in some cases, deemed 'unelectable'.

I understand it's an ideal, and that it might not be attainable in the 'real world'. But it just shows that despite significant progress made over the past few decades, there is still ways to go. We're definitely better than most and far ahead of most other societies, but we're the standard-setters, not the followers.

 

Now I see why most do not take TJ posts seriously.

 

So Outnumbering the largest Minority group 3-1 and being part of the Majority Group . . .that is not enough?

If you are part of the Majority . .. I think that pretty much eliminates you from being a minority
