Berman says that their sources have confirmed that we will have the AS Game in 2006 at the Toybox. NBA and Rockets have not confirmed publicly yet..... just thought I would let yall know.
Yea, he said the only thing left to do was the paper work and there was nothing that could kill the deal. This is cool. First the Superbowl, then MLB Allstar Game and now the NBA Allstar Game. Aren't we getting the Final Four sometime too?
kickass =) a few little all star games we're hosting as of late quite cool for the city and fans here
That's right, I forgot it was that far away but the Superbowl may be back sometime between 06 & 11. Man these are going to be good times here in Houston.
WOW, so much stuff happening in Houston these years. The Buzz is getting loud. I am loving all of this.
I still have my ticket from the 88-89 Dunk Contest. I thought Kenny "sky" walker was cool... I got to see CLYDE try to do the free-throw line dunk... Still have a ticket signed by Derek Harper and Sleepy Floyd... that was about all I got signed... Anyone else remember that?
Yea, that game was at the dome. I needed the hubble telescope to see the court from where I was sitting.
It's no secret that we've made it a priority to try and get an All Star game in Houston. In the sense that a team is, in some ways, a public trust, we view it as part of our duty to the city of Houston to do our best to bring in events like this -- it's great for Houstonians and it's great when you can bring something that helps raise the profile of the city. That said, nothing is final yet. These sort of deals are very complicated. As soon as something is final, though, we'll make a official announcement. Tim
TIM Let Les and everyone know. . . WE TRULY APPRECIATE THEIR EFFORTS So . . I figure we will be having an ALL STAR GAME and a NBA FINALS HERE IN THE SAME YEAR!!! Rocket River gotta love it
Hope we get it. Keep up the good work, Tim. (I know David Stern has actually grumbled to the media about how much the Rockets have hounded him for the All Star game, so it won't be for lack of trying if we miss out; but here's hoping all goes well!)
That's what I was thinking, for those who are ready to buy tickets -- good luck finding them. The owner of the Sixers said he doesn't want another ASG after his experience with it. Tim, what you really need to work on is hosting the Finals.
