Very short tidbit, he's got an offer from us, and he/agent's negotiating with other teams. One quote- "I want to be here...that's very obvious, but it's a business." -James Posey
Personally, I'm not too comfortable placing the future of the small forward position in the hands of someone I consider to be a shorter-version of Walter McCarty. Battier could be our Rick Fox if the Memphis angle is legit. With Dahntay Jones on board and Dickerson returning, he's expendable, which combined with the Rockets love for the guy (as per Clutch's draft notes from two years ago), only lends credence to the possibility of a switch.
battier would be a good 3 for us. hes not all that great as an athlete or have that much god given talent, but he does bring alot of hustle, and a great knowledge of how the game is suppose to be played.
are you calling Battier a SG? well, why would Battier be expendable for just another SG/SF-type, who would presumably be in the same boat, and for more money. By your logic, seems like Posey would also "be expendable" if he were on Memphis right now. I can't imagine them swapping Battier for Posey. That's like us trading Maurice Taylor for Keith Van Horn...hehe
same here. him considering memphis means one of 2 things to me: 1. the contract is too $mall for his liking 2. the contract is too short for his liking either way, good news imo. I'd rather him walk than hand out another Cato-mot-mooch contract, esp when im not so sure he's that great a fit on this team.
The Rox love for given players changed with the regime change. There are now new loved players and newly unloved players. BTW - I would prefer JPo to Battier straight up. Or Fox or Kenny. But a straight, healthy, motivated LO would get my nod.
Sorry but I guess I missed a report. Is JP talking to Memphis? Are we talking trade? Again, sorry if this has to be repeated.
"If we have to go above the luxury tax to improve this team, we will." (Les turns from microphone and sneezes: BULLS**T! BULLS**T!) "Excuse me."
