Berman: Memphis offered 4 yrs at 24 mil. Yao didn't break a bone.

Now we see why the Rockets will not match that ridiculous offer. Berman coming through with the major scoop once again!

Well at least Yao can take a couple of days off, he really needs it.

after hearing what Grizz are offering, I would agree if they dont match.
6mil a yr is too much for what Posey brings to the court...

Its a shame, I liked him.

If the Rockets match, it will be a big mistake.

And with the luxury tax, it'd be 12/yr for us. Piatkowski at 2 or 3 vs. Posey at 12 is a pretty easy call.

nope..I realize what this does for our D..at least Hawk can still play some good D...and Cat when he feels like it..

I liked Posey, and thought he was getting better towards the end of the season..but 6 mil a yr? too damn much

He was at best our 3rd best defender behind Hawk and Cat and wasn't even as good as the guy we traded to get him. I also think Yao is a better defender than Posey too.

I thought the Grizz had Jerry West as their GM or something. Why the hell would he agree to a stupid contract like that?

He will always be remembered for making that steal for Kobe, but no one will remember his overpriced signing of Posey (Well excpet maybe Grizz fans who will see this contract the way we see MoTay's.)

The one thing I don't understand is why the Grizz would make this move, especially for more than the MCE. I thought they were in the same luxury tax predicament that we were. Plus, they have so many swingmen that are as good, if not better, than Posey. And it's not like Memphis is a major market. Somebody want to help me out here?

I'm really starting to get baffled by this one. First they are stockpiling the position and now offering big money for Posey. I don't know what to think--I think that West has something up his sleeve. But keeping all of those guys and signing Posey to that kind of money, is, well, I don't understand it. But that's why I'm not a GM, I suppose...

How can the Grizz offer that much? I thought they were over the cap in which case the could only offer the MLE.

If you want to feel better about losing Posey then try to remember all of the nights that he got lit up and only managed to go 1 for 10 or 0 for 8. Try to remember the last second foul on Andre Miller that almost cost us a game against the Clipps. Think about Posey’s thug style of play late in the game against Dallas when he intentionally hit some of the Mavs late during one of the games last year.

After 4 years in the league his averages are:

    Points per game – 9.4
    Assists per game - 2.1
    Rebounds per game – 5
Steals per game – 1.29 (isn’t he suppose to be a defensive specialist? )
    Field Goal percentage - .405

Posey was very up and down last season but not up enough to give the guy an outrageous contract.

If it's not broken, I can't understand why Yao would miss a week of games just for a cut above his eye. Stitches or not. If he missed a Rockets game for that reason I'd be pissed. A broken bone I can understand.

The voice of reason speaks! My respect for you just went up about 150 notches. ;) Once again, JPo is a good player, but not worth us going over the luxury tax for. He may be "athletic and defensive" and all that stuff, but let's face it, he's not worth giving the outrageous contract to. Many people have mentioned the MoT and Cato and Mooch contracts. This is just another situation like that. Plus, when you look at the stats...he's not that great. I'd give him a max of 4.5 a yr for 3-4 years to see how much he improves. Anything more than that, and the Grizz can eat it.

I am a strong believer of the hypothesis that Jerry "logo" West is somewhat an overrated GM. I have made my case before to support this claim and I am not really in the mood to rehash - all you have to do is stop and think about. He will certain be exposed as just another GM in Memphis.

    PS.
By using the word overrated it does not mean that he is not good, rather not as GREAT as touted.

    Bye bye Poze. Enter BokE.
