FOX NEWS: White House - Bush Didnt Know About Port Deal

    Fox New Article

Okay, they are really confusing me now. One day you defend the deal, the next day your people say you didnt know about it. Why do they make things so hard? Just disclose what you are doing so it can be scrutinized. This is not about politic's. This is about our security. Why play these games and why be secretive about things like this? These people are really scaring me now. I mean, I can't trust anything they say or do because it seems like they try to sweep everything under the carpet. Why? We need government reforms. It is obvious that people in office arent serving the people anymore. :(

It says Bush didn't know about it. It didn't say the White House didn't.

Aside from the fact that one man bears the responsibility of what the whitehouse does, which makes this a horrible defense, It was Bush who threatened to veto any bill which would stop the UAE deal.

The Whitehouse can't veto a bill. Only Bush can.

Obviously thats what it says. "Bush didnt know about it." Why defend something you dont know about? Why defend it with a VETO threat? Someone is being dishonest here and it is really turning my stomach. I am in IRAQ right now. I go through DUBAI, UAE all the time. I like their country. However what is going on here? What is going on with this situation? If you fill so strongly about something, why would your press secretary start to "Bush didnt know about it..." angle? Dude, partisan bias out. Why does this administration send so many mixed signals? What is the purpose of a GOVERNMENT if one branch takes it upon itself to dictate important issues like this behind closed doors? Right now I am discouraged that we as Americans will not see any honest government ever again.

Good Lowered, you guys need to calm down.

    A little timeline fer ya:

This deal was approved by CIFUS on Monday.
Bush learned about it sometime on Monday, and discussed it with pertinent Cabinet Secretaries that day or early Tuesday. He was satisfied with their position.
Bush, on Tuesday, spoke to reporters aboard AF-One and defended the deal. This is the first time he threatened the veto.

I do not like GWB, but you guys are going overboard here.

P.S. there's already a thread on this subject.

I believe Bush has since been briefed on the deal and knew about it before issuing the veto threat. It's probably dumb that he wasn't briefed beforehand, but on the other hand is the President aware of every deal that is going down?

Not everything, but something as serious as PORT DEALS yes. For national security reasons alone. Something I can care less about, but an obvious entry point to would be terrorist I hope would be something the PRESIDENT or CONGRESS would be involved with from day one. But what do I know, I am just a middle class citizen paying taxes.... This is just common sense to me....

Just for that, I am subtracting 5 GBD's from you. As a reminder, it's also pubic hair shaving day.

Are you aware of what goes on in these port deals? They are not buying the whole port. In the other thread I posted a part of an article that shows the criticism of this deal is off base.

Rumsfeld on Tuesday... according to the WH, this is after the CIFUS (of which he is a member) voted unanimously for the proposal:
