A McDonald's worker in Union City, Ga., was arrested and jailed Thursday night for putting too much salt and pepper on a police officer's hamburger, MyFoxAtlanta reported Friday.

Kendra Bull was mixing hamburger meat when, she said, too much salt and pepper accidentally spilled into the bowl. Bull said her manager was working with her, and continued to make patties out of the meat. Bull grilled and ate one of the over-seasoned burgers for her dinner break and grilled the remaining burgers from the batch.

A police officer purchased one of the salty burgers and became sick. According to MyFoxAtlanta, the police accused Bull of purposely pouring the salt and pepper on the burger and charged her with reckless conduct. The police photographed the burger, took the sick cop to the hospital, and carted Bull off to jail.

Bull, who spent Thursday night in jail until she was released on a $1,000 signature bond Friday morning, admitted the burgers were too salty, but said she ate one from the batch and did not get sick. She also said that security cameras trained on the work area and grill will prove that the salt was spilled accidentally.

Bull's attorney, a public defender, asked the judge to dismiss the charges, but the judge refused.

The judge should have done the right thing.

I wish there were more checks on the powers of law enforcement officers. Most of these guys are grade A assholes. This is coming with someone that's never been arrested and only cited for one traffic violation (failure to yield right of way) in his entire life.

If you want a burger that doesn't make you sick, McDonald's hardly seems the place to go doesn't it?

Aren't Mcdonald's burger patties already seasoned and frozen? The story makes it sound like they actually hand make their burgers from real beef

That's exactly what I was thinking. I'm betting they are already frozen and pre-portioned.

They are frozen and portioned, but the seasoning is put on while the patties are grilling (before the top grill is lowered), so I guess the story does somewhat fit with Mcd's usual cooking methods.

McD's, was my first job. Never thought anything I learned there would ever come in useful. :0

This is what I don't get. The cop takes one bite and realizes its too salty. Then I presume he finishes the whole burger and then gets sick. But why in the heck would you finish the whole thing. I don't think anyone can get sick from eating one bite.

Wouldn't you have to sue the restaurant? I would think she could only be arrested if there was a criminal intent.

Maybe the saltiness came from something else. I believe the nomenclature is "chumburger."
