More to come during the sports segment - exclusive interview with Francis.

Francis said when asked where this ranked in most disappointing moments in his career, "It's right behind being drafted by Vancouver. I'll put it like that."

He'll get over it, but it's nice to see loyalty.

My thought as well, but Berman is playing it up saying, "Franics was furious when drafted by Vancouver and demanded a trade that landed him in Houston."

Should be interesting to hear the rest of his comments at 9:45.

Jeff...I have an idea...you start a thread called " How About As Coach: MacBeth." and I'll start one " How About As Coach: MacBeth...er Jeff" It could work, you never know. EIther way, whichever one gets the job agrees to hire the other one as a scout, assistant, or Ambassador to Micronesia.

Is his disappointment directed toward management or Rudy for stepping down since it is supposedly Rudy's decision?

Francis = great athlete and ball player. Francis does NOT = smart player. Hopefully, he won't demand a trade, If he does, he ends up getting traded to another crappy team, not one with a chance of winning, because when players make demands, their value universally goes down.

I'll continue to plug the Francis to Detroit for Billups + #2 pick deal, but all word out of Detroit is that they've scouted Darko real well, and will be taking him.

Being disappointed and being mad are two different things.

Hes disappointed because he loved Rudy to death. However, i don't think he is gonna turn around and demand a trade. I just don't see it.

    I don't care.

    Rockets.....don't listen to him.

    We own him.

    He is ours.

Don't trade him for 11 players and picks again.

    But ugh......

    Mark Berman is exaggerating.

Steve better be back next year......but man...we better get the right coach. :(

I think no matter what happens emotions are probably running high right now. He may say something about not minding a trade, or say nothing about it at all. Either way no matter what happens, it's got to be a heartbreaking and emotional time for Steve and a lot of the guys on the team.

also he said something like 'he'll have to sit down with coach(future coach I assume) and see what direction they're heading in'

i swear, sometimes Franciis sounds like he owns the team and he's running things. its funny.

I bet Francis is upset because he just lost his protector.

    Good.

after this, if Stevie is traded I'm done with this p***y-owned team. Les Alexander is the worst owner in the NBA....no loyalty

I'll reserve judgement until I hear what Francis says, but my take is this:

He had an inkling this was coming and I doubt seriously Rudy really was 100 percent about stepping down, but he was against it as he has stated.

Francis is moody, always has been. He tends to overreact and say stupid crap. This isn't the first time and I doubt it will be the last.

He'll talk to Rudy and the team and they'll work it out.

He must be the first guy media outlets try and contact about any tiny bit of controversy emerges from the Rockets because he says inflamatory crap pretty much every time. He definitely needs a publicist. Maybe he could borrow Mobley's. :D

Or he lost his coach. I don't think he feels like he has or needs a protector. I think Rudy has a real history of inspiring loyalty in his players. What Steve says now may not be the same thing he feels in a week from now. There may be some more emotional roller coaster when training camp under a new coach starts. But I think it will even out in the end, and Steve will stay a Rocket, and while he may not like the new coach as much, he will probably be happy being a Rocket.

    1) I just got off the phone with Steve, and he's very upset about these comments of yours. He hasn't made any decisions yet, Jeff, but he is considering his options, and also says that " Jeff Balke ain't no baller." He added something about the whole East Coast vs. West Coast rapper wars, but I didn' get it.

    2) There is no way this was all Rudy's doing, or even moslty. The key statement in the press conference, and I think it was a slip-up considering the spin, was when CD said " I'm just glad Les is doing it this way, keeping Rudy in the organization." Pretty clear, that.
