I like Murray. He could definitely be instant offense off our bench. Banks is alright. He's quick and athletic but little else. And why would we be interested in Padgett when we have a younger Novak who has greater range and does a lot more off the dribble?

Banks and Murray would help somewhat, Padgett shouldn't be much of a consideration anymore since we now have a better, younger version.

It's sad that the team might be forced to resort back to signing/playing a bunch of roster fillers

I find the Rockets front office really funny......first they sign Swift last year and then ship him out this year. They traded Mike JAmes away last year and want to sign him this year. They let padgett go last year and then want to sign him this year.

I don't guess it's that shocking that we're talking to Padgett. He'd come for the minimum so we could sign him after we used the MLE. I think Novak is still so thin that he can really only play small forward, while Padgett can play a little power forward. It would be interesting to have them both on the floor in certain situations with McGrady playing shooting guard and Yao, obviously, at center. Talk about making them pay for double teaming Yao or McGrady.

I like Flip Murray off the bench. I think he's about as good as anyone but possibly Ben Gordon in the role of bringing instant offense off the bench. I'm not sure how I feel about him as our starter though. We could certainly do worse.

I also have mixed feelings about Marcus Banks, but atleast he's only 25 years old.

To clarify, they said Padgett said he is interested in coming back but they didn't mention if the Rockets feel the same way.

I think the Rockets could do A LOT worse as a backup PG than Banks. The ONLY thing that might be an issue is he can get a little too turnover prone at times. That certainly will not sit well with JVG. But, he is a decent scorer and getting better at shooting and running the point. This whole board has been clamoring about getting young and athletic, he fits both those attributes.

I'm not a big fan of 'Flip'. He is a nice scorer but brings nothing else to the table and is short for a 2-guard. I'd almost rather get Fred Jones who may not be quite the scorer of Murray, but brings another athlete and is a decent defender at the same size.

The one thing I don't get is the seemingly complete lack of interest in getting another big body. Juwon is 33 yrs. old, Deke is 102, Yao is coming off an injury-prone season, Hayes is under-sized, and Novak and Battier are more 3's. I would think we would look at one more body to throw in there in case of foul trouble or injury. Loren Woods, Melvin Ely, Kelvin Cato, somebody.

JVG admitted not re-signing Padgett was a mistake. I'll take him back.

Banks is fine as a backup PG.

I don't think much of Flip Murray.

    Yay for Marcus Banks

Yay for Scottie too Hottie - only for the vet minimum, means no pressure on novak so he can develop

Yes- both are stiffs with no D. They can catch and shoot and hit free throws. They are not mobile....I remember Dan Langhi....
