That's perfect. Trading Pike and AG will open up minutes at the 2/3 for Sura to get soem of his minutes there. T-Mac will probably get some more time at the 3 as well. Yao/Mutombo MoT/Howard/Spoon JJ/Boki/T-Mac T-Mac/Sura Ward/Sura/Lue
I don't know if that's true or not, but if the Rockets can pull off trading Griffin, Pike and Wilks for Mutombo it would be a master stroke, even if Dikembe is old. Did the Rockets actually make that offer or is that just more speculation on their part? And why give Ward a 3 year deal. I would have given him a one year deal MAYBE two, though I would have liked to have had the 2nd year be a team option. I guess the 3 year deal will allow Ward to settle into a back up role in a year or so.
Of all the plausible backup center options we have, Mutumbo is probably one of the best fit possible. The guy can certainly teach Yao some defensive moves and doesn't need to play much.
Well, lets hope the Rockets offer, if made, is accepted! Mutombo is the ideal backup, I agree. He'll definitely help toughen up Yao, and a frontline of Yao and Mutombo at different points of a game would be lethal!
If the Rockets do get Mutombo, lets hope he can bring some of the passion he used to have. This would be his first return to the Western Conference since leaving Denver, I think.
