Sounds good. Maybe Swift will be starting by season's end, but I see him and Juwan both getting a lot of minutes. Anyone know what the Kings starting line-up is? Bibby, Wells, Peja, Shareef and B. Miller?

Interersting...no Swift or Wesley starting. Maybe JVG wants Howard there to keep the D from collapsing on Yao too much?

That's what I expected. DA has decidedly outplayed Wes so far this preseason, and except for a hiccup against the Jazz, Howard has been on fire from mid-range. Hopefully Swift can take over the starting spot by the all-star break, because he's going to be a terror next to Yao on defense.

I thought Swift would start, but it makes sense that he is not. He needs more time to "get it all down." I imagine he and Howard will split minutes for awhile. The most interesting, but not surprising news is that Wesley is not starting. Anderson (better passer and shooter) has come in and bumped him out.

Howard is an extremely good team player, a very smart veteran, and I am not really sure if most people realize that or not. He might not be the greatest individual talent around, but his keen awareness of his role, his professionalism, and his intelligent play is going to keep him in the starting lineup for a while, unless he hits a slump that he can't get out of.

    IMO, Howard is underrated.

I agree with most of this except for the DA part. I know others will disagree with me, but I like Wesley better as our starting SG, despite his poor FG% to begin the preseason. Anderson seems more like a good candidate to be the instant offense off the bench. Slash, get to the basket. Wesley seems more like a guy that works in the flow of the offense. I don't know...I could be wrong.

No surprise here. DW played his way out of the starter position more than DA played his way in. SS will only start if the Rox start the season in a cold funk with JH starting. Anyway SS is better suited for the 6th man role after having done it for 5 seasons, he will also get an opportunity at C when JVG goes small.

No way Swift starts -yet. Howard has that consistant midrange shot that Astro does not. He is also is a smart veteran and leader. It's great that he came back. Swift has a while to go but I think he will get there eventually. I am worried about DA's longevity, but we will see.

This is going to be a great year. :D

I wouldn't be shocked if Swift come in first for Yao and then have Yao come back in for Howard.

Me too. DA can create his own shot, but when T-Mac and Yao on the floor, we need shooters who know how to set and pop. DA would be much more effective come off the bench.

Seems like Yao has played the entire first quarter a couple of times in the preseason, though.

Seemed like he is trying to play Yao for the first quarter, and final 6-7 minutes of second (16 total), then maybe first 8-10 minutes of 3rd quarter and final 8-10 minutes of game (32-36 minutes total).

But I wouldn't be shocked if it was your way, too.

I've believed that about JH for a long time. It may be some time before Stromile gets the starting nod. In fact, if JH keeps popping that sweet jumper, Stromile may never start this season.

I'm a little surprised about DA starting over Wesley. Like others, I prefer DA as instant offense off the bench. But he was so much better than Wesley during the preseason JVG feels compelled to start him. I just hope he doesn't put in a lot of heavy minutes in the early part of the season and wears down or gets injured. DA could end up being our 3rd most important player in the playoffs.

We don't have a big PG to cover up Wesley on defense with Sura out.

My thought is that we have Anderson with Alston to matchup better defensively with the starting unit, while Wesley comes off to play when TMac runs the point so he can guard the opposing PG. Noticed Wesley brought the ball up a few times the last few preseason games, so he might be there to help in that area too when Alston gets a breather.

I hope Swift becomes the starter eventually. It just make the rotation more balanced IMO. Yao (offensive big man) with Swift (defensive big man). Then, off the bench, Deke (defensive) with Howard (offensive).

I too would prefer saying DA coming off the bench. However, I highly doubt that this is a 'set' rotation for JVG. No doubt he will continue to experiment a bit more throughout the early weeks of the season.

I like this lineup, DA has played well for us this preseason, Wesley has been too streaky as of late. Expect to see Swift starting by seasons end.

    Bench:
    Swift
    Deke
    Wesley
    Barry
    Bowen
    Mooch

If we start the season on a good run, JVG wont change the lineup even if Swift outplays Howard.
