Marc Berman of Fox 26 said the Astros are interested in bringing in Preston Wilson.

He's both a nephew & stepson of Mookie Wilson. Mookie married Preston's mommy after Preston was born. He's also a switch hitting power hitter that can play all 3 OF positions. And he's got some speed.

His power is pretty meager outside Coors Field. Still, we could use another OF. I'd take him if he came cheap.

Maybe Tim-ah will pop his cherry after all. Preston Wilson would provide more pop in the OF over Burke if Bagwell can't go next season. Solid defensively too. He would be a decent addition if he can be had at the right price.

However, if you thought Jason Lane struck out too much wait until you get a load of this guy.

I wouldn't sign him for more than 1 year and 3 million dollars.

Ugh. I'd rather go with Lamb and/or Burke.

Wilson is not a switch hitter, he bats exclusively right handed.

preston is nice, but yeah way too many K's for me. Strikes out like Burnitz and Sosa...without the power to back it up. I mean I like his power...and speed...but I don't think they make up for the K's. However, with his good defense, I wouldn't mind him batting 6th for a decent price. Just saying I don't think he's a 3/4/5 hitter

Oops, for some reason I thought he switch hit. I must have been thinking about Mookie when I wrote that.

i hate wilson. He's injury prone, lost his speed due to the knee injury, and he has a serious attitude problem.

I mean look at the guy, he looks like he mugs old ladies on the weekends...

Man, the guy is only a year older than me but he looks really old. Must have had one hard life or something.

What, the Astros are interested in a black player?

This might just be showing interest in someone like they always do and watch them sign with someone else days later.

Yeah, I know what you mean. There is something about him that just doesn't fit the Astros image. I just can't put my finger on it. hmmmmm...... ;)

Life's hard on the streets. Scrapping for food, selling drugs on the corner, and pimping hoes for a living.

This crap has gone on long enough. Chuckie Carr, Carl Everett, Doc Gooden, Derek Bell, James Mouton, Kenny Lofton, Mike Jackson, Pat Listach, Gerald Young, Billy Hatcher, Darren Oliver, Tom Gordon, Kevin Bass, Daryle Ward, Glen Barker, Brian L Hunter, Dave Clark, and Eric Yielding all played for this organization in the last 20 years. Charles Gipson played a role in helping the team to the wild card this year, and if I'm not mistaken Charlton Jimerson was a september callup this year. They wined and dined Rondell White earlier this offseason. Cecil Cooper, a coach on Garner's staff, is black.

Actually, if you look at his splits from last year, he was as good good on the road as at Coors. The only place that the stats seem particularly poor is RFK, which swallows hitters alive.

One nice thing about him is that I believe he still has the speed to play a decent center field? That's where he played for Colorado anyway, and at Washington he played all three outfield spots.
