    In my opinion:
Mike Harris-He's great player with enourmous potential but since he has the lowest salary and no spot on the team he will 99% be cut.
I would love to see him somehow playing in Euro few years and coming to Rockets then.
Bobby Sura-Bobby after some deadly injuries is surely not going back on the floor.1 M$ Les,pay out.
JL3-He's a great hard worker, pass first PG,fast and agile and has no spot on this team.If we could trade him for cash, pick that would be perfect.Wish him luck whatever happens...
    And fourth player is....?
    Your opinion ?

I posted this earlier today in another thread:

As it stands now, the most COST-EFFECTIVE cuts the Rockets could make at the end of training camp (as opposed to any basketball-related factors) are:

    1) Mike Harris: $50,000 - partial guarantee of minimum salary
    2) Carl Landry: ~$100,000-150,000 - partial guarantee of minimum salary
    3) John Lucas III: $500,000 - partial guarantee of $770,610 salary
    4) Steve Novak: $687,456 - full second-year player minimum salary
    5) Bob Sura: $1,000,000 - partial guarantee of ~$3.8M salary

Also, keep in mind that the Rockets are currently over the luxury tax. Any guaranteed money that they cut will count towards computation of the tax. That is why I think it is less of a foregone conclusion than most that Justin Reed will be waived. He is owed ~$1,529,873 this season, with a player option for next year at around or above that figure. Waiving him would cost the Rockets over $3M plus the extra luxury tax for this year and next year.

These are some really realistic moves but on the other hand,so tough.
And I did not put CL there cause I think because of the unstability at PF spot,he will stay.

I'd cut Landry if we can still keep him in the future or use him in a trade.

Morey could still pull off a trade that could lessen the load and not have to eat up salaries. Fingers are crossed!

I think we'll make a trade for cash or a pick before the season starts.

Snyder is in the final year of his rookie contract and is guaranteed approximately $2.36M this season, after which Snyder will be a restricted free agent so long as the team extends him a qualifying offer.

Can't we send some of these guys to the D-League so they will still be our players if we need to call them up?

We can keep 15 counting those we send to the D-League or IR. Pity. We can pay as many as we want. The extras just can't be on our roster but they do count against the cap.

That is exactly what I think will happen before the season starts. Morey will leave it up to Adelman to make his choices and then Morey will start the fire sale.

The only tradeable player with a min contract is Novak.

Unless you mean the Rockets package a player like Bonzi, Head, or Snyder for an expiring/non-guaranteed contract+cash/picks.

I doubt Morey can move any of the scrub contracts on their own.

    JL3 must go.
    Novak is a keeper.

Tracy McGrady/Yao Ming/Steve Francis/Shane Battier. Rafer Alston becomes new team captain. Just like making Stephen Jackson team captain, it's a brilliant move designed to give him some responsibility and stability. Kudos to RA!

Man as long as JL3 is gone when the season starts. that guy is useless. We have a better version of him in brooks.

I think cutting JL3 and Sura is a given.

I can't see why we would sign Landry and then cut him straight away - why not just waive his rights or send him to Europe and retain his rights?

Mike Harris was also an off-season pickup when our roster was 'heavy': he performed well in Summer League and I'd also be surprised to see him sent packing.

Of course keeping those 2 would mean ditching Novak and Alston since nobody else is really expendable. Perhaps we'll trade them both for a pick and eat a contract?

Put some into D-league and trade them away when opportunity comes. That's how I would handle it. I think our GM is smarter than me and he can do better.

Besides salary, is there any compelling reason to cut Novak?
