I had oyster today and I bit into something hard. It was a little white thing that isn't quite a perfect sphere. I'm guessing it's a pearl. I'm wondering if it's worth anything and if it is worth keeping. If I keep it, what can I do with it?

Do you have a jewelery store you shop at? Take it there. They ought to be able to tell you if it is worth anything or if it is worth cleaning up/polishing it up.

It takes more than one to make a pearl necklace.

On your advice, I called a jewelry appraisal place. They said that pearls found from "bred for eating" oysters generally aren't worth much. She asked if it is shiny or dull. I told her that it wasn't particularly shiny, then she said that it probably isn't worth much.

Well great... any other ideas of what I can do with it?

Get a lawyer and prepare a lawsuit.

that happened to me once although you barely see it. it was about the size of the tip of a ball point pen.

I love oysters btw. houston press had an article a couple of years ago on oysters and people who are really into them and how the temperature, and area they are grown in, and size affect the taste.

Take it to a jewelry artist and have that person make a piece of jewelry out of it for you or your spouse.

That's tempting because I could've choked on it... in fact, I hurt my tooth a little by biting on it. However, I really like the restaurant, and I want to go back... so that's probably not something I want to do.

    1. Put it in your mouth, and really eat it this time.
    2. Start telling rich people that you **** pearls.
    3. Convince a dumb rich girl.
    4. For proof, hand her whatever turd you manufactured that contained the pearl.
    5. Get a job ****ting pearls, eat lots of rich food, possibly bang the dumb rich girl, then, after a week of them digging through your pooh but finding no second pearl, say, "Thanks for the shrimp and the poontang! Later!" and disappear with their bank account details and silverware, as well as nude pictures of the dumb rich girl (which can either be used for blackmail or sold on the internet).

    Thank me later.

Tell everyone it's a haunted pearl and sell it on ebay.

It's not a bad idea, but it reminds me of the golden egg laying goose fable. Wouldn't the rich people gut me to look for more pearls? I suppose they would learn a good lesson when they find no pearls in my body. :)
