He caught the ball in the endzone, he reached out with the ball to brace his fall. <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/0nJ_SrHr-2I?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/0nJ_SrHr-2I?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object> Good call, dumb rule.
That is what I thought, the Calvin Johnson play was with him in the end zone trying to make the catch while in this case Foster caught the ball OUTSIDE the endzone, making him a runner and only needing to break the plane.
Nope, he caught the ball outside the endzone. His body might have been inside the endzone but the ball was outside the endzone.
One foot in the endzone, one foot out, by the time he had control of the ball, he (and the ball) was in the endzone. 27th second of the video shows this perfectly. Good call, dumb rule.
Or we would have been in slightly less of a hurry since we only would have needed a FG instead of a TD. Haters gonna hate.
So if he had caught it outside the endzone, then fallen the exact same way, with the ball hitting the ground and popping out, then it would have been a TD? What a dumb rule.
He caught the ball outside the end zone. His left foot wasn't even on the ground yet when he caught the ball. Immediately after he caught it, his left foot went down and he completely went into the end zone.
This is a MUCH better explanation of what Pereira said... http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/Austin-Collie-injury-hit-helmet-penalty-referee-Week-9-110710

This wouldn't even be an issue if Foster would stop trying to break his fall with the hand the ball is in. I've seen him do it a couple times and it always scares me. Tuck the damn thing and roll, stop trying to show off. The ball being down is better than the ball being fumbled. In this case, he didn't even need extra yardage, he needed to hold onto the ball. Someone should talk to him. With that said, the foot "in" the end zone was actually "over" the end zone, since it hadn't touched down when the ball was caught.
he was a runner. Complete pass, he made a football move and became a runner. All the ball needed to do then was cross the line.
Donny's right, he caught the ball in the endzone. However, I do think this guy's 'second move' explanation is interesting, and in that case there's a good argument, though my confidence in the refs to make that type of ruling during a game is sadly pretty low. In any case, it doesn't matter now.
That wouldve totally changed the game. dont forget about that 4th and 1 that couldve been a field goal that wouldve been a 7 point difference. then we couldve just run the ball to run the clock down. run the ball... i cant even say that with a straight face. kubiak is so much like jason garret.
