Let's assume for a moment that the man those know-nothing historians ranked as the worst president in our nation's history is elected or proclaimed president by the SC... What are your predictions for the next four years? More good ole Christian like family separations? Detention camps? Alligator moats along the border? Mass protests (again)? Manufacturing losses? Perhaps another botched disaster or pandemics response by the self-proclaimed "wartime president"? Threats to withhold aid from liberal states? Immunity for police officers? More catchy nicknames for his enemies? Loyalty oaths? Trump parades? Saudi assassinations? Bomb the cartels? Rising tensions with China? Kowtowing to Russia? More QAnon? Splits with longstanding allies? Squashed investigations? The need to never vote again? The invasion of Taiwan? War between Israel and Iran? Impeachment(s)? Sharpies? Iron domes over Minnesota? More tax breaks for needy corporations? Government shutdowns? Let's hear those predictions that will hopefully never happen but likely will if . . .
Stronger economy Wars will end Intentional illegal immigration gets curbed Iranian spy network in government gets busted Woke excesses get stopped Smaller government Not everyone on Trump's team who is now friendly with him will still be friendly with him in 1, 2, 3, 4 years Kamala will never be the candidate again, neither will Walz The media will keep hating on Trump There will be more assassination attempts
On the first day he will fire Jack Smith and issue a pardon for himself. The stock market will have a big drop and within the next year the country will be in a recession as tariffs raise prices and immigrant labor dries up. Construction and agriculture will be hit very hard. The independence of the DOJ will be greatly diminished and there will be several investigations of Trump political opponents. Ukraine will be forced to surrender much of their territory to Russia as Trump cuts aid to them in a “peace deal” with Russia. Israel will outrightly annex the West Bank sparking another wider regional War. During the next Hurricane season major storms will again strike and response to them will be very poor as departments to address major disasters are either shut down and / or with key experienced personnel replaced by ideological Loyalists.
More American Carnage? We'll definitely see whether a Trump Bump is real or not. Our debt looms larger than an Evergreen super cargo ship hitting an iceberg. The economy will largely determine what he can get away with when it comes to legally sketchy stuff though republican policies might be standard like last time.
I think you're right about most all of that. Although I believe world markets will crash, much like happened when he won in 2016, but businesses here in the US will salivate at the prospect of more tax cuts and things will quickly calm (provided Republicans gain control of congress). If and when businesses are rewarded with more tax cuts, they of course won't actually hire new workers or increase wages, and they'll instead pass their increased profits on to their shareholders. Next comes cuts to entitlements.
The 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act failed to produce promised investment or wage increases for the vast majority of U.S. workers. The law did, however, significantly reduce corporate tax collections, diverting resources from public investment to the pockets of wealthy shareholders, executives, and high-paid workers. All the charts are listed in the link below. https://www.americanprogress.org/ar...jobs-act-failed-to-deliver-promised-benefits/
If Trump wins, I think Vance will find his way into control soon, Russia will win for sure, and Israeli aid may be abandoned.
I don't know about all that. Kushner might disagree, and so might his father in law. Kushner said “Gaza’s waterfront property could be very valuable … if people would focus on building up livelihoods,” “It’s a little bit of an unfortunate situation there, but from Israel’s perspective I would do my best to move the people out and then clean it up,” Kushner said Just a bit of an unfortunate situation? That's a strange way to describe all the murdered people on both sides. Kushner also said he thinks Israel should move civilians from Gaza to the Negev desert in southern Israel. Nice guy huh? Just move them out in the middle of a damn desert. We can build luxury properties on that waterfront. I see dollar signs. I guess Putin and Kim Jong Un might have the final word though, as Trump's puppet masters. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/mar/19/jared-kushner-gaza-waterfront-property-israel-negev
The best predictor has and will remain to be to ask yourself if it benefits Trump or not. If it helps him personally in some way, he's going to do whatever's asked of him.
I'll get into a longer discussion later of Trump on Israel, but my point wasn't clearly stated. I think Vance will abandon Israel after he wrestles power from Trump.
