Seems there are many over the years who go on to win rings with other teams...

    PJ Tucker
    Troy Daniels
    Dwight Howard
    Kyle Lowry
    Jeremy Lin
    Omri Casspi
    Juwan Howard
    Shane Battier
    Steve Novak
    Metta World Peace
    Sam Cassell
    James Posey
    Robert Horry
    Kevin Willis
    Mario Elie

I wonder if that's above average or just a function of free agency / trades. Or something about what the Rockets do as an organization - either in the players they select or how they develop them. But 15 players over the course of 20-some years seems like a lot.

I dont really understand ring chasers are frowned upon but at the same time ringless guys like Barkley and Nash always get sidelined because they've never won a ring. KG put up one of the best careers ever but because he was loyal to his franchise and only won 1 ring his entire career nobody mentions him among the greats.

If players get stuck in a bad situation and build their own power team then suddenly its bad too but if a GM builds a power team doing the exact same thing well then its ok.

Lots of dumb and contradictory takes.

NBA fans fixate way too much on rings when evaluating players, especially for a league with the lowest parity of the big 4 major leagues, and a league known for refereeing influence and top-heavy rosters.

In short, NBA fans aren't usually too analytical. They are player only fans.

    Also lol @ Omri Casspi

it's pretty normal and I pretty much couldn't careless for the players that really had no role or significance on that team if they got a ring. it's pretty much understood who actually earned one and who didn't. context matters

Right, does anyone think Jack Haley's 2 or 3 rings with the Bulls made him elite?

Edit: younger folks may need to google Jack Haley

Yeah I like looking at rings so I dont mind the ring chasing going on.

At the end of the day NBA championship is the hardest one to get out of all major US sports, how you get it doesnt matter much IMO. Of course dudes like Adam Morrison will never be seen as better than Barkley just cuz he has 2 rings, but in cases like Pau Gasol vs Malone lots of people will give the nod to Gasol because he has 2 rings.

Most of those guys contributed significant minutes - if not during the finals during part of the playoff run or the regular season.

It was actually less than a minute to be exact. 51 seconds. It took longer to go to the scorers table, wait to check in and take off his warmups and get in the game

troy daniels played exactly 0 meaningful minutes in the playoffs
