There is a legit discussion amongst real Rockets fans about this topic in another thread.

There was an old thread and poll about this, but this was during the time that Clutchfans had a really bad computer virus called LinOnlyFan Virus , so it's invalid

The new poll will be created by the 99ers

    skip by a landslide!

    good defender,
    great handles,
    adequate 3,
    tear drop

he was very underrated. playing next to TMAC limitted his ball handling. if he was on another team he would have flourished more.

Rafer did his job as a PG...couldnt shoot...but he helped orchestrate a functioning offense.

Lin had nights when he scored, and nights when he was absent. But just not with scoring, but on defense and his primary role as a PG. This is why he lost his job here in Houston to Beverley...Lin was "meh" at everything...Beverley was excellent at one thing: defense. In the end, Mchale believed that having one excellent quality was far superior than average play every where else.

Skip won't all of sudden lose the ball off the dribble...... You need a PG that can at least handle the ball at the most crucial moments.

If the event is done at Rucker park, it would be a trashing. Street ball rules

What if it's in Lin's backyard? You know, Palo Alto Park or Stanford Park or in the Apple headquarter's outdoor court?

This is like picking the last guy for your team in a pick up game where there are only two guys left. You know both of them suck and will kill your team.

    But you gotta pick one....

I would pick Rafer and tell him he can only shoot 3 times a game, preferably layups.

Too many random variables with Lin.

Have stuck up for tinman once or twice, but this is a terrible troll thread.

Lin is a Laker, and we can safely leave discussions of him there. Why anyone would even want to bring a part of that horror of the last two years back into the GARM, which has been so much better, is really beyond me.

    One star. Not to revisit.

Skip was a streaky shooter, even more so than Lin. He was a better pure PG but Lin is better on the break, in pick and roll and stronger going to the rim. The Skip tear drops still give me night mares. Lin also keeps his passion under control, Skip and wig out. Lin does pout when his confidence leaves so each have mental weaknesses. Overall I say Lin.

Lin's inconsistency is the main reason why I'd never take Lin over Rafer.

Rafer didn't do much except catch and shoot and pass the ball and play acceptable defense.

Whenever Lin is aggressive, he's miles better than Rafer. However, once again inconsistency. Having a player on your roster that shows up one night and disappears on another is not preferable to a serviceable player that consistently performs to a reasonable yet uninspiring standard night in and night out.

Rafer's shooting was the definition of inconsistent. He also couldn't pass the ball to Yao for ish.

Rafer's shooting was streaky, but other aspects of his game never changed. Also that's why Tracy or Battier always gave Yao the ball in the post.

And I sure missed him in that one playoff series against the Jazz.
That was the playoff series where everyone wanted to murder Luther Head.

At least a missed tear drop could potentially be offensive rebounded, and at times it could even go in. Still preferable to a turnover.

I'm not here to say Rafer Alston was good. But he was serviceable.
