hmm. I totally misread the thread title. I thought it said Barkley was quoted as saying something about/from CLUTCHFANS.net. I was searching through the first 10 qoutes and was disapointed.
for some reason, while im reading this, i cant stop remembering the time barkley tackled shaq to the floor and made him look like a big wuss... it just keeps on playing and playing while im reading the quotes... that was one of my most favorite rockets memories!!!
He had an excellent interview with Jim Rome earlier this morning, it was pretty good and worth listening to.
"On a TNT telecast a few years ago, Kenny Smith was going on and on about his two championship rings. He said that, in a show of appreciation for their efforts, he gave one ring to his father and the other to his brother because "they were the ones who helped me get them". Charles quipped, "You should have given them to Hakeem." LOL!!
Honestly, I like Barkley. I think he's just jealous of the Rox (knowing that Yao & T-Mac have a chance at getting a ring, while he didn't). Barkley, IMO was never a team player, but it seemed he would rather be the center of attention. I guess that is why we never won after trading our "role players" for Barkley and Pippen.
We never won because Pippen flamed out on us, Barkley was too far along in his career and injuries caught up, and Hakeem's decline was about to kick in. There was a combination of things in those years after the trade that did us in. That "You should have given them to Hakeem." quote is one of my favorites. Barkley is awesome.
