MoTay was an incredible low post player. Too bad he could not rebound, pass or play defense.

Hes been there for a few months now. I know this because he used to be on 1560 pretty often, but he stopped this year because of the move to italy.

He had some touch around the basket, but he didn't have the kind of moves that Luis has by any means. I liked his mid range jumper and his ability to put the ball on the floor to get to the basket. Unfortunately,he couldn't do anything else like you pointed out.

was always a fan of his, I loved his midrange jumper, people forget, Game 1 vs. the Lakers in 2004, he single handling kept us in that game

I remember his first year here, he would be the first to touch the ball for us and set the tempo for our inside game

If Mo Tay had the work ethic he could have been an all-star.

    GREAT talent.

Watching him dunk on that video remind me of Blake Griffin just a bit.

And this sort of thing might explain why he wants back in the NBA. I wonder if he's blown through most of his cash?

Well the quote below makes me think he's not doing all that badly... hopefully not, anyway. Plus, I'm sure he's making decent money playing in Italy.

he had much better moves than scola, and was an overall much more gifted offensive player. the difference in their effectiveness is due to the fact that scola works his ass off on every possession while mo taylor made robert horry blush when it came to laziness.

scola is described as "crafty" in the low post because all of his moves have a "how the hell did that go in?" feel to them - with all due respect to luis, he's basically the most productive bumbling oaf to ever step foot on an NBA court. his left hand is a vestigial organ, he has awful form on his jumper, and kind of slips around like a fish on dry ground when posting up. mo taylor on the other hand had one of the smoothest offensive arsenals in the league. great footwork and coordination, an effective jump hook, and most distinctly, probably the best handles out of any power forward in basketball. the comparison to blake griffin is dead on - taylor had sick athleticism in college and with the clippers. because he was so god awful towards the end of his stint here, people forget how offensively efficient he was in steve's second year.

it's a shame he put on so much weight and had such a low motor. coming out of michigan, he had all the tools to be an all-star.

the two things i remember most about him was that he often used to get the best of garnett when they matched up, and he was always the first to get Yao's back when somebody was f'ing with him.

Better moves than Scola, you can't be serious. The video in this thread shows nothing but straight on dunks that 90% of the PFs in the league can make, where is post game with his drop step, spin move, baby hooks with either hand or up and under move. Scola is far more crafty around the bucket as you suggest but I don't get the feeling that he is bumbling or lucky when his shots fall particularly that bank shot off the glass that he shoots so often. MoT was another bad signing by the Rox, overpaid under performer, Scola on the other hand is a terrific value player that I hope the Rox can keep when his deal ends next year.

I don't remember Mo getting the best of KG. Ever.

I also don't remember Mo as being a dunk machine.

I do not remember Mo as being a winning player.

I remember him being C-Webb lite, but heavy.

I remember Mo just not gettin' it. Another wasted talent.

why are you basing your assessment solely on a youtube video? did you not watch him play during his stint with the rockets? the selection in that clip lends to the assumption that he was a dunker, when that couldn't be further from the truth in his post-clippers career. he definitely had his fair share of facials, but the bulk of his scoring came in the mid range or with a soft touch in the low post. do you not recall his stellar first quarter stats in 00-01 and the manner in which they were obtained? not to be presumptuous, but considering your join date of 2003, i'm guessing you are basing your analysis on his post-ACL career. mo was really good offensively in his first year with this team.

scola's scoring clearly isn't due to luck - what i meant is that it gives off the appearance of luck, at least IMO, because he is so awkward. to each his own i suppose.

i wasn't making a value assessment of the two players. scola is clearly the better player, and an exponentially greater value asset. mo taylor was hands down the worst signing of the carrol dawson era, but his shortcomings weren't due to a lack of skills. scola is superior due to his veteran savvy, ability to move without the ball, ability to pass, willingness to defend, and his limitless motor. there's no question he's the better player. but mo taylor was more skilled.

My guess is yes, he bought his mom a very nice house with some land in the same neighborhood as my inlaws many years ago and just recently it has gone up for sale..
