Everybody around here seems to be dreaming about the Jason Kidds, Michael Redds, Ray Allens and Joe Johnsons. I understand it and dreaming is a very nice way to get over the off-season.

    BUT,

What Free Agents are there with no such hype surrounding them?
Those guys that might be just what we need and put us over the top.

    Lets list some names:

    Kerry Kittles

There are concerns about his health, but his game would be nearly perfect for us. A long two, who defends well, but is actually a good shooter. Clippers won't probably resign him as they have Simmons and Jaric to worry about (though I'd take Simmons off their hands for MLE too) and he shouldn't cost the whole MLE.

    Antoine Walker

The market seems to be pretty cold on him, and if Ainge changes his mind again, he MIGHT be available for us. I would do it in a heartbeat. He has strengths that fit some of our needs very well. A tremendous passer for a big man and a very good rebounder.

    Zaza Pachulia

Young and talented. I have only seen him play in Europe but apparently he is developing very well. Milwaukee has Gazduric playing before him and I don't know if they are willing to resign them both. The downside is he might be better suited for Center than PF.

    Raja Bell

Great defender at 2. Developing offensive game. I don't know if Utah insists on keeping him but he might be an option.

    Othella Harrington

I liked him back in the day. If we trade some of our PFs away for help to other positions, he could be nice backup PF. Off course we wouldn't break the bank for him. :D

    Shandon Anderson

This one gets a lot of flame for sure. :D If he is good enough to play in Miami, I think he could be our backup 2/3. Defends and runs the floor.

    Maurice Evans

Athletic shooting guard. Don't know about his game much but his shooting percentages look very nice. A restricted free agent though.

Can't think of others now but maybe someone has something to add?

Disclaimer: I'm all for adding Chandler/Simmons/Swift but those guys probably are a reach. And expiring contracts are nice way to get overpaid talent but that kinda kills any cap flexibility. We just got rid of Taylor remember.

    Good post
Kerry Kittles is on the decline imo. He'd still be a serviceable guard like Wesley and Barry and Sura have been. But I'd rather get someone for the future. We already have Wesley..who is a similar player to Kittles. We only need one of them around as a backup. Maybe 2.
Raja Bell is good..but is he really a contender type guy..we have a guy like him already in Wesley or Barry and Bowen and Padgett.

We need to build a team that will win many championships..a team that will develop together.

We already have a balance with plenty of old guys..they have been great..Mutombo and Mike James and Wesley or Barry or both.

I'm hoping Spanoulis is good..2nd choice Antonio Daniels.
At power forward..I'm dreaming of Tyson Chandler..but Donyell Marshall and Chris Wilcox would be good. Badman bring him as 3rd man..eventually become a great backup.

Atnoine Walker to launch 3's? He's a good player..but not really the guy we want inside to help rebound block shots and stuff..is he? He's versatile for sure..

And the athletic swingman.. at nbadraft.net there are plenty of athletic shooting guards and small forwards. Some just need to get stronger..improve their shots..work on their defense..and some have attitudes. I'd stay away from the ones who have attitudes and who suck at defense and who cannot make midrange jumpers. There are some ideal guys we can draft with the #24 pick. We can always sign a guy too...

! Let me put in a vote for Damon Stoudemire and Brevin Knight!

Stoudemire's a good shooting threat, although his ability to "fit in" is a bit of a question. Brevin Knight is under-sized, but a passing machine.

    Antonie Walker? No Way!

That would be one of the worst signings we could make. He is fairly talented, but a total ball hog. No way we want him taking T-Mac's shot.

Kerry Kittles - past his prime
    Antonine Walker - Good luck.
    Zaza - project
    Raja - Questionable
Othella Harrington - Not good enough
Shannon Anderson - Trust me, don't want him.

That leaves Maurice Evans, anyone know anything about this guy?

Yes... he's awesome, and there is ZERO chance the Kings will let him go.

I've liked Brevin Knight since his college days. He's undersized but he's still one of the better defenders at PG. Very smart player and really knows how to run an offense. Great career assist to turnover ratio. The only negatives are that he can't shoot the 3 and he's relatively injury prone but he should be great as part of a combo with Mike James at PG, giving opponents 2 very different looks.

    PG Earl Watson
    SF Jason Kapono
    SG Latrell Sprewell
    PF Brian Scalabrine

Wasn't the buzz on this guy coming out of college, was that he could shoot lights out?
    If so, could be interesting...

One thing that the series against Dallas showed us was that we desperatly need a third scoring option.
How can we get out of the list posted above that filles that hole?
    Personaly I'd go for a scoring SF/SG.
Gerald Wallace and Juan Dixon could be worth looking at.

Pick up Radmonovich and move T-Mac back to the 2. This gives us a solid third scorer, as well as more height and youth. The guy is actually a pretty good defender (I;m shocked for a Euro); plus he rebounds too. I really like this kid, and think that if Lewis wasn't in front of him, he would have already broken out. Now is the time to grab him.

Also, I really like Shareef at the 4. He is quick enough to defend other 4's and he uses his body extreemly well to box out and get rebounds; plus he is an offensive stud.

At the point I love Earl Watson. He had an off year this year, but the kid is just what we need. He defends the ball well on the perimeter and is quick as hell. He doesn't turn the ball over and has great court vision (although his assists were down this year).

Just a few suggestions. How do we afford these guys? That's CD's problem.

for some reason i think we might go for spree. he fits the bill pretty well, and JVG might be the only guy that would take him right now.

i believe that if we had him indead of wesley we would've beat dallas.

'Toine blows. I think most people know he wouldn't fit here, with JVG, or with the fans. (we'd all go insane in about 3 weeks)

    Spree is done.

Earl Watson will get some good $$ elsewhere (ATL if nowhere else)

Mo Evans? He's alright...but "NO WAY Sacto lets him go" ? Eh, he's not all that great. I guess he's pretty athletic, which is being rewarded in the game today.. he's what D Miles should be kinda.

The problem with a lot of these guys is that the #1 thing we need, it's pretty obvious, is athleticism. We need it on the perimeter to cut off dribble penetration, and we need it at the 4 to help Yao rebound. So a lot of the older players who have high skill levels might not be as good of a fit. We need athletes; a young Horry would be perfect for what we've got.
