Again...me r****ded so forgive me if this question was asked already...

If the trade goes through, does T-Mac come signed already or are we gambling that he MIGHT sign an extension or does he come with Birdy Rights? Or what is his contract status once traded?

Again, Starbucks is just kicking in and mentally I am still out. So, forgive a repetition.

I dont think anyone knows for sure Almooo...

but conventional wisdom says that the Rockets would nto agree to this unless they had TM's word that he will sign an extension/reup contract.

I gues we will find out soon enough.

I understand that he HAS to sign an extension as part of this deal.

I hope so, but I thought that players aren't allowed to sign extensions until their opt-out year.

I don't know about that...Shaq is wanting an extension and he has 2 years left.

And technically, isn't this TMac's opt out year?

    You're right, I got confused.

But, I thought this deal couldn't be announced until after July 1st, how come it is said to come as early as tonight?

Not true. What I've heard is that, AT THE VERY LEAST, he must agree to void his option to get out of his contract after next season. At the most, he could agree to an extension. He does not have to agree to an extension for the deal to happen.

I've been meaning to bring this up, but keep getting distracted at work!

All reports I've seen point to him opting out after this season as a member of the Magic, but nothing if he is dealt.

Other than word of mouth, has anyone seen an official report that T-Mac will sign an extention or waive his option?

As I said in the sticky thread, I heard that Orlando was giving Houston 48 hours to negotiate a contract extention with TMac. Apparently, contract extention is also a contingency of the trade too.

If that negotiation takes more than two minutes it's because the Rox management is too drunk (from the non-stop party) to coherently say "T-Mac, max deal max years and two power dancers *CD snickers*....done".
