since Stern raped the t-wolves and took five 1st rounders from them and they are over the cap i say we make a offer for KG.they are over the cap and the draft won't help for the next five yrs,the mid level exception won't bring anybody there,so their best bet is to trade KG and get some young talent and some draft picks in there.I say we send them anybody but Francis and Cat and three 1st rounders. ------------------ Eddie for three...yesssssssssssss..holy mother
Houston would have to basically give up the whole team for Garnett. The only way it would work is if we trade hakeem to them so the wolves can free up space. houston trades: Hakeem Olajuwon $16,000,000 to minnesota houston trades: Shandon Anderson $2,200,000 to minnesota houston trades: Carlos Rogers $2,200,000 to minnesota TOTAL: $20,400,000 minnesota trades: Kevin Garnett $19,400,000 to houston TOTAL: $19,400,000 ------------------ "You look a team that's been to the mountaintop like the Houston Rockets, I'm going to put pressure on myself to be the best possible player that I can be. With the pieces they already have in place and myself, we can do some amazing things next season." Maurice Taylor
man, dont get greedy.. we have mo taylor... he is a damn nice power forward... lets just see how it goes with him... ------------------ "Man, it's cool. I'm going to be president. That's Wicked." -George W. Bush, SNL
We are talking about Garnett. Comparing Mo Taylor to Garnett is like Calbert Cheaney to Micheal Jordan. ------------------ "You look a team that's been to the mountaintop like the Houston Rockets, I'm going to put pressure on myself to be the best possible player that I can be. With the pieces they already have in place and myself, we can do some amazing things next season." Maurice Taylor
Garnett will be so hard to move considering Hakeem is definitly playing for his last season and the only spendable rockets players that I would give to get KG will be Bullard, Collier,Thomas and Rogers. But I still see it a Long Shot! ------------------ Rudy T. will find and fulfill Rockets destiny.
Garnett can play small forward for us u know ------------------ Fun Police Says: 1. Stupid threads & Stupid BBS names are not FUN! 2. Conduct yourself in a FUN way! The Fun Police are Watching. Vote for the Rockets & Have FUN!

well, this may not be popular in these parts, but here's what i'd offer: Houston gives: Hakeem Olajuwon & Cuttino Mobley along with our picks from Detroit, Milwaukee, etc. and our first round pick in 2002. Minnesota gives:[/b] Kevin Garnett. WHY? Kevin G., as stated earlier in this thread, could play the 3 for us. Shandon stays at the two guard, and Walt moves to the 6th man position (at least until we could find another potent scorer to come off the bench.) As for Minnesota, picking up Hakeem gives them somewhat of a PR reason to bring fans out (swan song), and he'll be leaving at the end of the year anyway (-$16,000,000). Cuttino gives them a scorer to carry the offensive load. And the draft picks next year, in a loaded draft, allow them to pick up some quality players. With Hakeem leaving, Cuttino Mobley being signed to a long term deal, they now have the ability to go after another big time free agent next summer - namely CHRIS WEBBER. All of a sudden, Minnesota's rebuilt. PG - Brandon SG - Mobley SF - Wally World PF - Webber C - Draft Pick (Curry, Johnson, Woods, Ming, Murphy, etc.) BTW, we wouldn't be hurting either (yikes!) PG - Francis SG - Anderson SF - Garnett PF - Mo Taylor (and no, he would not leave) C - Cato Bench: Wizard, KT, Moochie, Langhi, Collier, 2 Free agents or 2nd rnd picks AHH, DREAMCASTING IS WONDERFUL... but seriously, does anyone else see a prob? ------------------ Essentially the top two players to come out of college the last couple of years are Duncan, Carter, and Francis. - vince [This message has been edited by verse (edited October 26, 2000).]
I wouldn't be surprised, to tell you the truth, to hear that the Rockets or the Timberwolves discussed that trade. It would be very beneficial to the Timberwolves, putting them under the cap to go after some of the bigger free agents next year. Plus, they wouldn't have to worry about signing draft picks! Also, RealGM worked without Anderson. However, by dreamcasting for Garnett, there would be no way that we could resign Taylor, unless he decided to take less for two more years. We would also have to hope that Anderson didn't opt out of his contract because we wouldn't have any cap room with him either. ------------------ When you make an assumption, you make an ass out of yourself and umption. visit www.swirve.com [This message has been edited by Rocketman95 (edited October 26, 2000).]
Any Rocket is "spendable" for Kevin Garnett. And yes, that means Francis, too. I'd throw Calvin Murphy and Turbo in if needed to sweeten the deal. Throwing Calvin' in does sweeten the deal, right? ------------------ We Want LANGHI!
This is silly. Minnesota will never trade Garnett- that would be suicide with the fans. KG is arguably the most versatile player to EVER lace up a pair of basketball sneakers. Here is a very scary thought for the rest of the NBA- KG is only going to get better. ------------------
Moochie, no one's arguing that Minnesota needs to trade Garnett because he's not that great a player. Minnesota may have to trade him to get draft picks and a greater number of decent players than just one superstar. ------------------ When you make an assumption, you make an ass out of yourself and umption. visit www.swirve.com
Wow! This is all some serious dreamcasting! I agree with DoD. I'd give up just about ANY Rocket for Garnett. I'd ship Hakeem, Francis, and Mo Taylor along with a pair of draft picks if I needed to. Da Kid is dat good. Mo wouldn't mind the move because he could negotiate a new, multi-year, under-the-table deal with the TWolves. But Minnesota can't do it. For one they don't NEED Francis - PG's the one position where they are still set. And Houston couldn't do that deal either - political suicide, especially so close to the arena vote. verse - why in the heck would CWebb want to go to the TWolves in your scenario? He'd have a better supporting cast in Sac-town or NY, and its not like the weather or the city are selling points for Minneapolis. And, I bet Cuttino (and his buddy Francis) would be PO'ed. ------------------
Francis / Norris Anderson / Mobley Garnett / Langhi Taylor / Rogers Cato / Collier What a scary starting line up. If only dreams could come true. ------------------ "...Do you hear 'em? They're everywhere!!! AAAHHH!!!" That's what the other teams will be saying after being shellshocked by Steve Francis and Co.
I know this is PURE fantasy...... Francis / Norris Shandon / Mobley Garnett / Langhi Webber / Taylor Cato / Collier ------------------ "...Do you hear 'em? They're everywhere!!! AAAHHH!!!" That's what the other teams will be saying after being shellshocked by Steve Francis and Co.
If Garnett's traded this season, it'll be to Chicago. They have the most to offer in a total package of picks, youth and cap room. ------------------
Couldn't the Wolves play an amazing backcourt of Terrel Brandon and Steve Francis? They have Billups inked in as their starting SG, while he started out as a point guard back in Boston. So, I wouldn't necessarily say that the Timberwolves would deny a deal with the Rockets simply because he's starts for us at the point. Of course, would Francis pull another Grizz-like action and refuse to play? Perhaps a three team deal could be arranged? As it now stands, I agree that the Bulls have everything going for them. But wasn't the case when the offseason began? Anyway, why would he want to go to another loser in Chicago? They're known to have horrible management, and they're rebuilding as well. If Garnett is sent to the Bulls, wouldn't that tie them up as well? They don't really have an established roster with players under Bird Rights at the moment. What about this deal? Chicago sends Elton Brand to Minnesota. Houston sends Steve Francis to Chicago and Hakeem Olajuwon to Minnesota. Minnesota trades Kevin Garnett to Houston. The deal would make sense, as Kevin would be traded to a promising young team with Cuttino Mobley, Shandon Anderson, and Kelvin Cato. The Bulls would be better off with a good point guard to complement Fizer and Miller, who will make up the front court. Minnesota will be getting a good young player with enough cap space for next season. Draft picks could be added if so applicable. Makes sense to me. ------------------ Nederland 2002 Qualifying Campaign (Damn those penalties!!!) <A HREF="http://www.geocities.com/Colosseum/Pressbox/6544" TARGET=_blank>Houston Rockets Space Center- Not just another ClutchCity.NET clone. Tell me why would minnesota want to give up one of the most versatile players in the nba. Come on guys, it ain't going to happen. I wish it does though. ------------------
I think this has already been discussed, but read NBATalk's article, which covers the issue quite well. http://www.sportstalk.com/nba/columnists/cford/index.shtml ------------------ Nederland 2002 Qualifying Campaign (Damn those penalties!!!)
