I kind of got this idea from CriscoKidd in the "What are you playing right now" thread.

Even though the 360 is getting some great games, and both the Wii and PS3 will be launching with some interesting titles, the PS2, DS, and PSP are where the real fun will be at this holiday season (according to Gamespot and their weekly new releases page). Check out these titles:

    DS:
    Konductra
    Star Fox Command
    Mario Hoops 3 on 3
    Harvest Moon DS
    Mega Man ZX
    Contact
    Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime
    Pokemon Blue
    Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2
    Touch Detective
    Nintendogs: Dalmatian and Friends
    Tony Hawk’s Downhill Jam
    Star Trek: Tactical Assault
    The Sims 2: Pets
    Final Fantasy III
    Lunar Knights
    Children of Mana
    Yoshi’s Island 2
    Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin
    Hotel Dusk: Room 215
    Kirby Squeak Squad
    Custom Robo Arena
    Gunpey

    PSP:
    Mercury Meltdown
    LocoRoco
    Guilty Gear Judgment
    Ultimate Ghosts ‘n Goblins
    Bounty Hounds
    Star Trek: Tactical Assault
    Bomberman
Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception
    WTF
    Metal Slug Anthology
    Power Stone Collection
    Gangs of London
    Dungeon Siege: Throne of Agony
Tales of Eternia (WOW…this one is finally coming to America I guess…took them long enough).
    Mortal Kombat: Unchained
    GTA: Vice City Stories
    Capcom Classics Collection Reloaded
    Killzone: Liberation
    Every Extend Extra
    Lumines 2
    SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo 2
    Dungeons & Dragons Tactics
    HOT PXL
    Silen Hill: Origins
    Gunpey
    Sega Genesis Collection
    Earthworm Jim
    Medal of Honor Heroes
Plus this, which just got revealed:
EA Replay (Road Rash, Mutant League Football, Wing Commander, Ultima, and more).

    PS2:
    Disgaea 2
    Xenosaga Episode 3
    The Red Star
    Yakuza
    Rule of Rose
    Okami
    Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria
Mortal Kombat: Armageddon Also on Xbox and eventually the Wii (not this year though IIRC).
    Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner
    God Hand
Destroy All Humans 2 Also on Xbox.
    Lumines Plus
    Guitar Hero 2
    Final Fantasy XII
    Bully
    SOCOM: Combined Assault
    Tales of the Abyss
    Sega Genesis Collection

I tried to keep these to titles that were more or less exclusive to those platforms. Of course, you'll also have Madden 07, NBA 2K7 (or NBA Live 07), Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, NFS: Carbon, Splinter Cell, Phantasy Star Universe, Lego Star Wars, WWE vs SD 2007, and a bunch of other titles. Plus, there's also Zelda for the Gamecube, which could quite possibly end up being the best game this generation.

This lineup, along with some titles in early 07 (God of War 2, Zelda DS, etc.), should keep us non-early adopters occupied for a while until we finally decide to buy a new console...assuming handhelds are OK, although the PS2 (and Xbox/GC to a lesser degree due to multiplatform games) may have enough to offer by itself. Heck, Zelda and/or FF12 will be enough for most I imagine.

It has been rumored, although not confirmed. I think Obsidian is busy finishing up Neverwinter Nights 2. After that, they may start going full steam ahead with KOTOR 3 (assuming that is their next project).

I want to get started on a good Star Wars game that can be played on PS2 and can be played later on PS3. What do you dudes recommend?

KOTOR isn't on the PS2, just the Xbox and PC. KOTOR 3 might be on both the 360 and PS3, but that's about as close as you can get to having KOTOR on a Playstation console.

I think the only other decent SW games lately were/are the Lego Star Wars games. I never played them myself, but that's the only other option I can think of off the top of my head.

Note that I think I listed the wrong name for the game. I think the name of the game was changed to Metal Slug Anthology, but Gamespot kept the Metal Slug Collection page up too, which led me to put that one up first without thinking about it.

    Here's the MSA page:
    http://www.gamespot.com/psp/action/metalsluganthology/index.html

I also added MOH to the list for the PSP. Either Gamespot added that to the PSP list recently, or I missed it yesterday.
