Why is everyone stuck with a rebounding PF when we can put out a line up of the following:

Francis (One of the best RB at the Point Position)
Bonzi (Above average rebounder at SG)
TMAC (Above average rebounder at SF)
Scola (Not sure about rebounding, but should have the tenacity of boxing out to have the others get the rebounds)
Yao (Is a double digit rebounder especially with Scola being so active and his rebound numbers should increase due to Adelman's quicker tempo play would create more possessions)

The key in this is Francis. With him, I believe are rebounding is above average AS A COLLECTIVE UNIT. I believe we should trade our assets not for this year but to make sure our cap space is good in the future. I think we should be happy with the roster we have and use our trade bait to position ourselves for the future. Think Chess.

By the way, if we played Utah with the above line-up, we would probably have won the serier 4-2. We now have Francis that can be physical with Williams and if Bonzi plays, we have another player that can withstand the physicality of Harpring.

We weren't that far away from getting to the WCF people...

That doesn't make sense. Sure his rpg might go up because there are more posessions but that doesn't make him a better rebounder. His rebounding RATE has to go up.

That being said, I think Scola will be at least above average rebounding because his rebounding rate was pretty decent in the Euroleague from what I hear (Hollinger), and typically the rebounding rate goes up for Euro players after they come to the NBA.

I understand that but when I was referring to Yao, it is his GROSS REBOUNDS/game. He is a career 8.9 RB/game and that's with mostly the slow down tempo style of Van Gundy. It's not out of the question that he can get ONE MORE REBOUND per game with an extra 5 possession each game.

And to add, there were only 12 players in the league that averaged 10 rebounds or more last year. So again, I think our rebounding AS A TEAM should not be a concern at this point.

Well, yes of course but the premise of this thread is to show that our rebounding is not as bad as it seems and you pointed out that Yao could grab more rebounds with more posessions, implying that he'll be a better rebounder when in fact, he isn't. I'm just confused on what you're trying to say. How does it benefit the team that Yao grabs more rebounds per game if there are more posessions?

Steve Francis coming back to Houston is kind of a rebound.

Rebounding is not going to be an issue. That being said, I really hope we do not meet Utah again in the first round of the playoffs next season.

We have lots of players to deal. PF and backup C is still a position with some questions. We don't know yet if Butler and Scola will pan out. We do know that Hayes is not a championship calibre starter. I think Scola and Butler will work out, but why chance it. We have to trim our roster down. Why not bring in some insurance like Foster in case our dreams don't come true? The trades don't have to screw our future. For example, Foster only has one year left on his contract. We can't just trade for draft picks, because the cba will not allow that unless your trading partner is under the salary cap. I'm not sure there is a single team still in that situation. We have a glut of 2/3, but why not bring in a young stud like Barnes if you can? The Rockets aren't through. I just hope they use their heads and not their hearts like they did with sf3.

Really? I'd like to face the Jazz in the first round.
    1) We've got a new more offensive system in place.
    2) We've got more scorers, so they can't simply leave PG and PF open every time.
    3) Yao Ming will not be getting the ball in the low post and trying to make something out of nothing for 75% of our offensive plays.

I think we can take the Jazz easily, and it'll show how much we've improved. The only thing I'm afraid of for this team are the big 3 (SA, Dallas, Phoenix), and whether all the egos will mesh well.

I agree with the original poster.

Can't believe this all happened under a span of 2 months, but now we have some surplus of quality players, and we can use that to get high future draft picks.

If this is happens, then certainly Morey is the best GM in the league.
