    Foreign players TAKING over?!

With the Rockets taking two foreign players and the rest of the league drafting more and more foreign players, does this spell disaster for many American players? I know the best ones like Jay Williams, Chris Wilcox, Caron Butler, etc. will have no trouble being drafted but what about the high schoolers or the collegians who think they are better than they really are? I can forsee a future where half the first rounders come from overseas. The BIG incentive for teams to go this route is becuz they can draft a foreign player based on potential and let him play overseas 1-3 years, thus letting him develop his game(becomes more fundamentally sound,etc.). Why would teams want to draft high schoolers, etc. would would just ride the bench for 2-3 years but still get guaranteed $$$ (and take up cap space) only to lose them to free-agency by the time they get really good? I don't think NBA teams would and that's why American players better re-focus themselves. They need to be as prepared as they can be to play right away or many will get replaced by foreign players.

I don't know too many team that would be willing to spend a first round draft pick to get the rights of a player that won't play for a couple of years. However, I think you have already seen that the second round of the draft is dominated by thinking like you stated above. I'm hopeful that this will convince more marginal college players to stay in school

Exactly! That's actually what I'm hoping will happen. The "can't miss/superstar" players will always come out and get the guaranteed $$$, BUT unless you are in that class, you really should stay in school and work on your game. Maybe this will stop the influx of those "marginal" players who think they'll be 1st rounders but really aren't and end up in the 2nd round or undrafted. These players are then out of college eligibility and a scholarship and will probably have to pursue "the dream" in the CBA, Latin America, Europe, etc.
