http://www.forbes.com/2009/12/09/nb...s-sports-basketball-values-09-nba_lander.html This is amazing considering we have no real super stars playing this season. Even All the teams above us either have the best players in the game, or the best market in the game. Superb job rocket's owner, gm, coach, and whoever else influence this. lol
Interesting that the article says only 10% of tickets bought were unused. The arena usually seems pretty empty. Are people not buying that many tickets?
Um, it is based on more then this NBA season. So the revenue brought in by Yao, McGrady and even Artest played into the results. The top five teams were LA (Lakers), New York, Chicago (leaving off that Jordan fame and Rose's stellar rookie year), Detriot (Weird right?) and Cleveland (King James). Part of the thing you notice big media markets or big stars associated with the franchise in the past or present. While we should give credit to Mr. Alexander, Adelman and Morey for making the team enjoyable these last few years, this isn't a big deal.
Seems like the numbers are based on last year's team. They break this down by the sum of 4 values: Sport: (equal for all teams) Market: this is the reason why Chicago and NYC are up there Stadium: the Rockets have a good stadium Brand management: ?? Sport, market, and stadium is self explanatory. Brand management is a bit of a mystery here, I guess having a good team, having superstars, having a connection with the fan base all factor in here.
