http://www.thepcjukebox.com/home.htm I have been using this program for months and I absolutely LOVE IT. I bought a smaller shuttle PC to use as a dedicated Jukebox in my living room. I have the output coming out on my TV and a Desxcape monitor. (that is a touchscreen that you can carry around the house with you.. kinda like a big remote) You dont need a touchscreen but with the BIG pictures of the albums it makes it nice. You can just as easily use the mouse. Anyway, I have a BUNCH of CDs and I would imagine most people are like me. Before I would get an itch to listen to something like Aerosmith and after looking through the Hundreds of CD I have in multiple places I would FINALLY find the CD case and open it up and it is ZZTOP. Argh! But now I can just click on the album and Bam there it is ready to play. But with this program, all I have done is rip every single CD I have and it acts like a jukebox. For the more interested you can map this program to a coin acceptor and actually get your cheap friends to pay to play music. THis is great for parties. It took me awhile to understand it all, but it is free to download. However, it is limited to Ten Uses then it stops working unless you pay $20 or so. I dont know the guy or guys would wrote this program, but they seem to be good people. They answer your email quickly and have made many upgrades to the program based on what people have asked for. THe new version will be able to be used like a Karaoke machine. It is a great way to manage your music and you will be surprised at how much more music you will listen to if you find an easy way to manage your music.
I'm a computer idiot allan, what kind of setup allows you to do that? I mean I could figure out the mp3 conversion part, but don't know how to get the music onto the computer
You should look into .flac format or .shn, they create bigger files but are a little less lossy than mp3.
basically i plug my computer into the stereo as if it were a tape deck or aux. . I have an adaptor called an iMic that converts the rca cable into a usb . then i use this recording software and I can play a vinyl and record it directly to the computer much like recording to a cassette tape. It will also work with any audio input device, such as guitar, keyboard, mic. etc.
its called peak. but there is other software that will also record. the key is the iMic. I believe it is under $40.
