If you could compare "your game" to anyone in basketball(past or present), who do you play like?
Personally, I play like J.R. Rider. I'm 6"4' but I'm a pretty damn good post up player, with a good outside shot. I even have a little of that attitude;) ! Hopefully this thread won't get replies like, " I play exactly like MJ", or," People say I resemble Chris Dudley." LOL.....

A shorter Glen Rice. I'm just 5'9, but I'm an excellent post player, in addition to being a great outside shooter. I'm not very athletic, so I basically had to develop a post game to score in one on one situations... I don't have the quickness to create off the dribble from the perimeter on a consistent basis. My defense also really sucks, so that's another simularity. :)

I'm the classic Steve Nash... i play lousy defense, love to handle the rock, run up and down the floor, always look to shoot, huge offensive threat from inside and outside the stripe, and i am a wiry 6'1"... only difference, i know how to use a comb :D

    Richard Jefferson.
I have a mad hops just like RJ, no BS. Best part of my game is defence, I can shut down anyone that is my size. And offense game, it's rather raw right now. I rely mostly on driving to the hoop for points, but I can knock down open shots when I'm not covered.

    A 6'0" Bill Russell.

Long arms, great timing, ability to elevate quickly, and to defend taller players in the post.

Not alot of O, but don't bring that stuff in here. :)

Sounds similar to me is many ways, Cat. I am also 5'9", and have a pretty solid post up game. Most of that comes from watching DREAM growing up, and emulating him on the court. (Or trying, i should say! I LOVE shooting fade aways baseline...like a midget dreamshake!) My outside shot has really improved, too. Well, when i'm in basketball shape. My range has diminished some from not playing much, but it'll come back.

However, i feel i'm a solid defensive player. I really try to work hard at it to make up for lack of natural quickness. I think i'm a pretty decent shot blocker for my size. But, i can't handle the rock for CRAP!

I suppose I play most like Sir Charles or Ben Wallace, as one of my friends says. I'm only 5'9 or so, but I have bulk. I don't score many points, but I rebound like there's no tomorrow. And I LOVE to knock the tall skinny centres over, who have a high centre of gravity . Hehehe....

My game used to resemble Shaq's, now I'm more like Ming.

You don't come inside when I'm there, and on offense I've got the silkiest j for a big man you've ever seen.

Big man? Yeah...at a long 6'6 almost 6'7. But basketball wasn't my first love. Football and wrestling were...

I'd compare my game to Bonzi Wells, a guard with great post up game and an inconsistent shot at best. I'm only 5'10 but I can post up most people, even those bigger then me, my 1st step is also pretty good. But also just like Bonzi I have to keep improving, work on my handles and work on my shot.

This is embarrasing as hell, but probably Jeff Hornacek. Don't worry, I hated that guy too. But, on the court, I'm one of those spot up shooters that gets hot and starts to annoy the hell out of you. I'd like to say I play a lot like Reggie Miller, since he is my favorite player, and I do try to resemble my game some after him, but it doesn't always work that way. Every now and then I can show flashes of great ball handling and driving ability, but usually just average. And I only play good defense when I'm very angry or frustrated. :)

Damn how many of us are 5'9"? :)

I'm the same height and way 150.

My post up game was exactly like that of Sir Charles.

My rebounding sucks and always will suck. You cant sprain your ankle if you dont get off the ground. :D

I love to pass and am more then willing to do so. Pretty good at it too.

I love to play defense more then offense. I might not be the best at it, but will always try my best.

I'm an okay scorer. I can do a little bit of everything. I can get extremely hot or extremely cold. Vernon Maxwell anyone? ;)

I'm in the process of changing my game. I used to post up my little brother and other people who were shorter then me. Now he is 6'0" and everyone else is taller then me too. :(

So now I am trying my best to play like Cuttino. I cant drive worth a crap, but am working on my step back jumper.

Damn! Looks like I am the worst player out of you all. :( I think I play a lot like our very own Walt Williams. A streaky shooter at best, but once hot I can beat the hell out of you. And once in a blue moon I will drive to the hoop and surprise everybody on the court. Of course, my defense sucks! :D

i am estonian and i can see NBA only from one german sattelite canal who mainly shows Dallas games. but for that what i have seen maybe Rik Smits.
i 'm white 6'1" 200 pounds PF and my game is only short hooks, outside shooting and straight powerful two-steps on basket goings. i can't penetrate, but i can take boards and before back troubles i blocked lots of shots.

    I'm more like Barkley.
Can rebound like crazy at 240lbs plus. So boxing out not a problem. 5' 11. But different from CB is I can get out on the fast break and get alot of easy layups becasue other big men can not keep up.
Post up is not that great, can handle the ball great for big guy and if I miss my shot I can normally rebound it back for a closer position and lay up. Have a Streaky 3pt shot.
80% point production are hustle points.

that sounds a lot like me except the part about hating hornacek. i mean i hated him for being a jazzhole, but i never hated hornacek the person like i do stockton and malone. i'm 5'5 and being short, white, and a really good shooter, i got called hornacek a ton in high school. basically when i play at gregory where people are more athletic than me (who isn't) i am a shooter who moves around the 3 pt line trying to get open. i can't really create my own shot unless i dribble around a pick although i do have this cool set shot that i shoot from the hip and almost can't be blocked b/c i shoot it so fast. if i'm hot, i'm an amazingly good shooter although i'm usually just a consistent 50% 3 pt shooter who can have a few really bad games and a few really hot games thrown in. i really only drive if someone runs out trying to challenge my shot and even then i mostly just reposition and shoot the 3. my handles are decent, i essentially don't lose the ball or get stripped ever but i'm not gonna do anything flashy and since i'm too slow to drive around anyone it's hard to tell if i'm good at handling it since i just don't dribble in that many high-risk situations. defense. in a word, sucky. when i play against good people i try like hell so as to not get embarrassed ,and luckily there's usually at least one offensively inept person out of 5 on the other team to keep that from happening, but when there isn't it's pretty ugly. i'm not strong at all (really almost no one is ever weaker than me, have you gotten the picture i'm not a physical specimen), so people can post me and i'm slow as hell so people can burn me. so basically what it comes down to is i'm a really good shooter that plays smart so that gets me on the court and i suck at a lot of other things but luckily i don't play against awesome people so i don't get abused. i actually kept track for a while when i started noticing my teams winning a lot of pickup games (occasionally i was the best player on the team) and i had a 54-11 record going at one point (started 32-3).

finally, if i'm playing with my friends who aren't that athletic and who i have more confidence making mistakes with (i'm a very shy person and even playing ball i feel a little insecure and don't like making mistakes b/c i think everyone will think i'm costing the team too much (even though they turn it over far more)) i handle the ball a lot and am probably the best out of all of us (mainly b/c of my shot) and i even post up a lot and use my right hand to finish lots of short shots. i don't know who i'm liike against my friends, but i look pretty damn good playing against not so good players.

Jason Kidd: Great court vision. Defensive anticipation. Mediocre shooter.

My claim to fame: Playing lunchtime ball at the Y for 20 years or so, I was legendary for being able to stop a 2-on-1 fastbreak situation. I bet the convert ratio on those plays was less than 10%.

I'm about 6'2" and usually marked the other team's best front-court player-- pivot or wing.

I must say, too, that I am turnover prone. I make too many passes that go "uncaught." Some were my fault, but sometimes my teammates just didn't make the right cut!

On the flip side, I get a lot of steals.

Man I miss playing-- haven't played in 4 years or so. Used to play 3 times a week from age 20 to about age 42.
