For those who don't think Tmo's a 1st rounder-Carroll Dawson quote

From an article in the sunspot:

The Houston Rockets, who have three of the first 23 picks, could take Morris, possibly with their last pick in the first round. Houston is led by point guard Steve Francis, a rising star who combined nicely with Morris at Maryland during the 1998-99 season, Morris' best year. Francis is said to be lobbying the Rockets' front office in favor of Morris, who impressed general manager Carroll Dawson at a workout earlier this month.

"[Morris] comes off picks really well, he has great [shooting] range, and he reads defenses. He's in tune with the game," said Dawson, who is impressed by Morris' wingspan and the problems it creates on defense. "You can tell he likes to make a good pass or a play that leads to a score. We're talking about somebody who will keep feeding the hot guy. Coaches love those kind of people.

"He didn't surprise us anywhere except for his defense. You don't find a lot of people that are tuned into the defensive game. He moves his feet well. He keeps guys in front of him. Defense comes from desire and want-to. It's the hardest thing to coach. I think he's a first-round draft pick."

It surprises me that defense of Morris surprises him.

Just when you think Clutch isn't reading the posts, he gives a great link.

    Nice article. A must read.

Just like I've been saying, TRock is going to be a Rocket.

Tmo is getting so much run in the posts if the Rockets pick him it will break the cycle of picks leaving everyone scratching their heads

We can all say 'I knew it' for a change-

Collier and Langhi got very little pre-draft post. Did anyone have them in their MOCK Draft last year going to the Rockets?

Earlier in this article it mentions that Morris is coming back for a seocnd workout with Houston, so I posted it on the site.

I just got an email from tmo:

I see you don't give credit to your sources. That post was not a 'clutch extra', it was a 'tmo extra'. I told you that article was in the sunspot.

Hardly do I think this is my news as a link to the article is clearly posted in the story, but since you apparently have been offended tmo, I've added you as the "scoop" on this article.

Next time.... could you post a link?

TMO - plenty of people read and post on here without asking for the credit. Keep finding good info, write intelligent posts, don't piss off the regulars, and you will be fine here.

Speaking of 2nd workouts, when is Radman coming back?

    What?

A 'clutch extra' is a clutch extra. As you say, it's not your news, but your news on this site. In fact it was not. As I said, it was a 'tmo extra' [IMG] So is the part about tmo coming back for a second workout. That fact appeared in newspapers over a week ago, and I have posted it more than once on this board.

I don't really care--as I said in e-mail I find the phrase 'tmo extra' funny--but since you put it on the board I suppose I should respond.

And anyway, why did you feel compelled to post my (private) e-mail on the board in the first place, especially when you were not apologizing but only defending yourself? Where's the advantage? To clarify for future posters? Doesn't seem likely. I trust it's not an attempt to embarrass a poster (I can do that well enough on my own)...

I remember hearing good things about Dickerson, Drew, and Mirsad from CD or Rudy.

Pine: well, the f-words and all its diminuitives should probably be avoided, too, if we're talking posting etiquette now [IMG].

I know the smilie looks sort of weak, but sometimes sarcasm's hard to get on here, so it's better than not being sure if the other person's on the same wave length. At least, imho... I remember HP really hated them for a while!

Alluding to F words is verboten, but calling everyone p*****s is fine? Strange etiquette. There's a book on this somewhere, I assume? [IMG]

BTW, I always thought smilies were a chick thing until I got to this board.

    But when in Rome....

    That's just heyrebel talking [IMG].

On Morris: hypothetically, name another player who shot worse than 43% from the field, and 28% from the 3pt line who only plays SF that you'd draft AT ALL, much less in the 1st round. Can anyone find a player that fits this disciption?

I kind of agree with that also. Does anyone remember what carroll had to say about Moiso last year ? I know we all wanted him at 9, and now it looks like a blessing that we didn't take him.

I think that CD claiming that little surprised them about TRock just shows that they are still wanting to get him at #23. If a reporter asked Dawson about Tmo, he can't very well say nothing, and it would be wrong to say that he was a bad player (he is not). I think that CD saying that only the defense "surprised" him shows that they are not talking TRock up. If everyone assumes that CD's expectations of TMo are the same as everyone else's, and CD says that TMo really just met those expectations, but didn't exceed them, then no one will conclude, around the league, that Morris is any better than they previously thought...and few people around the league thought much of him to begin with. Wait, did what I just say make sense?

In fact it was not what?

I think it's fairly safe to say you don't know too much about the site, in particular what the "Clutch Extra" section is. You seem to think the "Clutch" in "Clutch Extra" refers to me, as in I am the originator of all this information and it's mine. Being new, I recommend you check out the archives. You will see a large portion of the news comes from sources from around the web, or TV, or radio -- and the source is always noted or linked to. The source of this story -- which is not you, by the way -- was credited with a link (the SunSpot). I should have initially added you as the "Scoop" for bringing it to everyone's attention -- which is certainly appreciated and I enjoy rewarding that as a courtesy -- but it was completely unintentional to leave it off. Having never heard of the SunSpot, I searched for the newspaper then read the article, posting about Morris' second upcoming workout. By that time I wasn't thinking about the BBS post.

Sending me this 3-sentence flame that I don't credit my sources was pretty ignorant.

By the way, I wasn't posting this to apologize -- I have nothing to apologize for. Everyone can (and does) read the BBS for news as much as the Extra section. Fans are the reason I still run this site -- we are a tight community and everyone enjoys posting the latest information. I posted your email because I wanted to let everyone know I will always give them props for bringing to light information, even if someone sends me something nasty like that. If you're embarrassed or upset that the words you wrote to me in an email were placed here, maybe that should tell you something about how they were received.
