Why is everyone saying we should get rid of MJ? That leaves us with Sura, Wesley, Head and possibly V-Span.....Do we actually want to see Sura on the team? I mean, maybe its just me but he SUCKED in the 2 most important games of our season. He is 32 or 33 with injury problems (Im sorry but 1 off-season doesnt cure everything), and he is TOO SLOW (as we all witnessed against Dallas). James can create his own shot basically at his own will, and can D up. So I guess im just curious..... why the hatred for James?

we want to get rid of Mike James becuase he has the most value on this team, and plus he will leave for more money after his contract is up. might as well help him out the door!

Because MJ is tradeable. As in TRADE BAIT. He is worth something on the market. All the other guys are quite old, even though most of them had one of the greatest season of their lives....atleast in a long time.

Well tell me this.....who will play PG when Sura is on the IL or when he is non-factor in some games? Head? Are we going to play a Rookie as our "floor general?"

That is true, way too often. He reminded me of freaking MOOCHIE at times. Nothing but dribbles till 5 secs left on shot clock then wants someone else to bail him out.

Yeah I dont get it either. Infact James was probably the 3td best player on the team behind T-mac and Yao in the playoffs (an argument can also be made for Deke). James still has several years left in his tank and other than T-mac and Yao he is the only player on the team that can get his own shot.

If we need to get rid of anyone it needs to be Wesley. He got killed in the playoffs and is the most replacable person in the starting lineup.

It's not that the Rockets need to get rid of him it's that he has TRADE VAULE or do you think Wesley is a better player and can get us more in a trade? Also James has said he is going to the team that gives him the most money when his time comes. Do you think the Rockets should keep him then over pay him, keep him and let him walk or trade him for someone that we can use because he is probably our most tradable player.

And if T-Mac doesn't like our back up player then I don't like our back up especially after drafting Luther Head. Because I am not trading Tracy to make Mike happy. Also the Mike who joke has gotten old and not that the Head jokes will stay fresh.

I have no idea how anyone can think that a team with Spoon, Ward, Vinny, and Howard all making 4+ Million a year - will benefit from getting rid of Mike James andhis 12 pts off the bench and his 2.3 million dollar contract

Mike James >>>>> Spoon + Ward + Vinny

Mike James' contract >>>> Juwan Howard's contract

the Rockets have a long history of being one of the better franchises in the NBA

would you rather be a Grizz fan (they are cutting their payroll) ?

would you rather be a Raptor's fan (worse GM on the planet) ??

... or how about a KNICKS fan - $90 million a year just on power forwards

or how about even the Sixers... no pick in the deepest draft in years

... maybe you like the T-wolves, who just replaced Latrell with another quality character guy

bottom line, the rockets run a good program, and James is a high value player - you need to keep some of this core in tact - otherwise we will become the Mavericks and have a different line up every month

... consistency and patience... I will wait until at least August, until I judge where the team is going

    KEEP JAMES.... NOW !!!!

Unless he can be packaged with an expiring contract to land a legit SG, PG, or PF.

Willis, it's not about Mike James' value to the team. It's about his value to other teams. Would the Rockets be better off trading Spoon or Howard instead of James? Sure. But those guys don't have as much value (in terms of what they contribute on the court) as James.

I'm not necessarily in favor of trading James, and I agree a lot of people are jumping the gun. However, I think it is reasonable to consider trading him IF Spanoulis and Head both show promise over the summer. Spanoulis and Head are both PGs who potentially could warrant minutes but (clearly) aren't ready to start. The problem with James is that his style of game arguably is better as a backup PG as well. That leaves you with potentially three legitimate backup PGs and (unless you consider Sura to be one) no real starter PG. Clearly there's room for somone to be moved, and if you potentially can get equal value for James at a position of need, why not do it?

It's not that one is better than the other but that one can possibly get us something better in a trade than the other. You think Sura has more trade value?

 Because Sura can a  ctually run the Rockets offense. With MJ running the show, the offense  stagnates to the point that TMac won't even let MJ bring the ball up at crucial moments cuz James  will dribble and dribble and jack up a brick. It's not that hard to understand.

Um no. If we can get rid of Sura to get a better player in return, then we will get rid of him. If we can get rid of James to get a better player in return, then we will get rid of him. If we can't trade either of those guys for decent players then we will keep them. It's that simple.

Yep. Excessive use of emoticons can be very annoying. And I'm not talking about myself.

Wasnt Mike James on 97.9 saying that when his contract is up hes gonna go where the money is??? Arent there gonna be teams that are gonna be able to pay him substantially more than we are?? So he played rather well last season (for the most part) and has good value NOW. Who knows if hes gonna suck it up or get injured next year and then is gonna have absolutely miniscule trade value.
I say we need to put MJ in a package with wesley spoon/baker and try to get either an athletic swingman, powerforward, or an upgrade at PG. Trade MJ only if the deal is right.
