With the another Rocket season upon us, don't you notice that studying time and grades start to go down a bit???... It's so damn hard to study when you know that your beloved Rockets are playin'...hehehe... ... I CAN'T WAIT 'TIL TUESDAY!!!!!!! ------------------
Yes, how in the world can you squeeze in study time when you have to go to class 15 hours a week? It is almost unbearable. DaDakota "Summers off? All summers mean now, is that it is really hot on the way to work." ------------------ All you MO-FO's better stop ripping off my lines !!
Same here, except law school students usually get 1 test per year, so the margin for error is smaller. Hell, I'm in San Antonio and don't have cable, so I usually watch Spurs games for basketball entertainment unless I'm at a sports bar catching the game on Fox Sports Soutwest or wherever else I can catch a Rockets' game. But yeah the productivity drops during the season! Yeah, I just told my instructor at BarnesandNoble University to shove it cause Rockets season is about to begin. BTW, has anybody seen Rocketfuel around cause my RocketBoosters need refueling before the new season begins. hehe ------------------
That was a real big problem in 94 and 95. The playoffs were right around final exam time, and if ya'll remember the Rockets were always getting in those elimination game situations. So I'd always say "well....tonight's probably the last rockets game of the year, phoenix has a 2-0 lead in the series, so I gues I HAVE to watch." this would repeat itself throughout the NBA and my finals, leading us towards 2 championships and me towards a steady stream of C's. ------------------ [This message has been edited by fromobile (edited October 08, 2000).]
I left halfway through a college final to watch game7 vs. Phoenix in '95...then I bought a VCR in '96 and we got swept. ------------------
Rockets Games killed my study habits last year. I had ALL of them for the first time ever. This year I'm offering to buy my roomate a case of any beer if he'll let me lend the TV out at least til semester's end.
I completely identify with everybody in this post. Last year I was supposed to go to a special 1 time only SAT seminar where you get to take a fake test beforehand and they give you the results the next week and go over every problem. Well, I took the test but the seminar was on the same day as the last day of the season with Chuck's farewell game. Regardless to say I never knew how I did on that test but when I took the real test in June I got a crappy 1070, which is not good enough to get in to the University I wanted to go to. It also would have been better if the Rockets had won that game because we wasted our draft pick any way, but that's a whole 'nother story. ------------------ I'm not clumsy, I just have to know my surroundings.
I go to school 15 hours and work about 30. That beign said, I can always find time to study, but choose not to. This is getting old. I love beingat UT, but Austin has WAY too many distractions. ------------------ "It's not a matter of if we will win the NL central, it's by how many games." Barry Larkin
I'm out of state and I have no TV. But since the TV lounge has a VCR too, guess who's having his mom send him video tapes of the Rockets? Man, at this rate I'll never make Law review. I'm a pitiful about studying to begin with and Rocket games make me even worse. BTW, Pass 1st, where are you at law school? ------------------
My posting time has gone down considerably with football and school but my grades are always solid. The Rocks always help my work and are usually the topic of it, especially in journalism. ------------------ please venture to atheistalliance and rocketsonline I AM SPARTACUS
I hate this page. I'm trying to TA in the programming lab here on campus, but every time I come in and try to get some work done, I always say, "Well I'll just see what's going on at ClutchCity real fast." Real fast always turns into an hour. ------------------ "There are three kinds of lies: Lies, Damned Lies, and STATISTICS..." - Mark Twain -
Subtomic, I'm at St. Mary's in San Antonio, TX. I am a third year preparing to enter business practice (ERISA). im only in 8th grade but the games have posed as a problem when trying to study. what kind of public school system do we have...schedhuling tests/exams within 2 days of a rocket game.
All i can say is, thank God for the internet!! Otherwise, I'd never be able to keep up with the Rockets. The Dallas Morning News does a decent job putting the AP article of the Astros' games in the paper, but never have anything on the Rockets. But thanks to the internet, I can get all the games on ESPN.com's gamecast and sometimes get to listen to them if the server isn't flooded. So, I can usually leave the program on and check the score every five minutes during basketball season and i usually "watch" the last part of the game. One plus about going to school in Dallas... pre-season opener tomorrow night, can't wait to see how close I can get to the Rockets' bench. I'll see if I can post a report tomorrow and maybe have some pictures. But yeah, I hear what all of you seem to be saying about trying to study for finals during the playoffs. That's why I'm glad college finishes up right when the playoffs start... back in '99 I was back in Houston for the entire Lakers' series... that was cool, and I didn't have to worry about finalz or school. Sometimes, life is just too sweeeet! ------------------
I don't work or go to school, but I do have a large trust fund. Basketball season always diverts my attention so I can't drink as much scotch. Damn, I missed another chance to take a sip while I wasted my time with this post. Bottoms up! ------------------
Yeah I'm a 1L at Georgetown. By any chance do you know what law firm represents the Rockets or if they have in-house counsel? I want to go into sports law but I don't think I have the patience to be an agent. Good luck with your final year - it sounds like you've got everything together.
