It's cool someone is doing this. I just wish it wasn't all country-ish stuff. It would be nice if a Texas music station played all music from Texas, not just Texas roots music.
Do you think people would listen to such a station, or are we too geared to narrowly focus on certain genres? My amatuerish station doesn't exclusively focus on Texas, but I do have a fairly eclectic playlist. You might hear Hank Williams followed by Arthur Yoria. Now, I have no problem with that, but I suspect others may find it really odd.
I would like to be wrong on this issue (because I am usually wrong on all other issues and I like being consistent ). By the way, if you were programming such a station, what are some Texas artists that you would like to see?
I like some of what is on this one. There is some good country out there for sure. Personally... Charlie Sexton Shannon McNally (you'd like her) Millicent Friendly Arthur Yoria Pale Tody Castillo John Evans Tony Vega Drop Trio Dan Dyer Those would be a few. A lot of the bands I like around town would make that list as would my own.
Anson Funderburg The Fabulous Thunderbirds Chris Duarte Clarence Gatemouth Brown Storyville Arc Angels Albert King Albert Collins Lightning Hopkins Calvin Owens uh, Don Henley (yup, Gladewater) Delbert McClinton Alejandro Escovado Archie Bell and the Drells The Texas Tornados, Sir Doug Quintet or any Doug Sahm ZZ Top Charlie Robison Asleep At The Wheel Freddie King Smokin Joe Kubek Steve Earl Steve Miller SRV Jimmy Vaughn Lyle Lovett Marcia Ball Michelle Shocked Ray Wylie Hubbard Shamekia Copeland and her daddy Darrell Nulisch The Gourds Hippie Gumbo All from within our borders, off the top of my head, without focusing on country music...I could have named some but I don't really like'em much.
