    ...please say one for my boys. They lost a dear friend and family member last night to liver failure. She loved her humans and her kitties.

    Yes, it is, but the prayers are for my sons. At 3 and 5, this is the first time they have dealt with the death of a pet. I have been close to tears all day long, but I am far more worried about them.

    He's not small. Bridget (the dog) was 65 pounds.

    Sorry about your dog. I can't imagine having to explain to my 3 yr old about this stuff. Just be honest with them. They're smarter than you realize.

    Don't be. Do you remember when this occured to you? I lost a dog when I was about 4. Stupid thing got out and was run over by a truck. Sure I was sad, and sure I still recall it, but it is part of life.

    They'll be fine.

    We had the same dog from the time I was 3 until I was 15, so I never had to go through that as a young'un. It just sucks to see them so broken up about her.

    Yes, I know they will, but I will still ask for prayers for them.

    It sucks losing a pet at any age. I lost this guy to chronic kidney failure yesterday....

    man, sometimes you can be a real prick

    OP-will say a prayer for your kids. I lost a dog at 5 and it was very upsetting for a few days. However, I think kids get over it quicker than adults. So sorry for your loss...it's always guuy-wrenching when you lose a beloved family pet.
