For those not living in Houston, doesn't it feel good to be a Texans fan?

Being here in Choke City, the sun is shining, the air is fresh, and I've got a hop in my step.

I'm at work wearing my Texans hat and Schaub jersey. Love sticking it to the choking Cowgirls! :D

EDIT: Forgot to add this -

I dunno; I wanted to see them get their asses handed to them by Bart Starr and the Packers. There's just something satisfying about the idea of the Cowboys getting beat down by a ninety-something year old quarterback.

Had sr610 droning in the truck this morning, and some guy called in and said, "I missed the final score of the Cowboys game--could you guys repeat it? Like 30 times in the next segment? Thanks!"

I think losing to a division rival, NYG, makes it better.

I'm glad they lost and all, but it's hard to talk trash when your teams best record ever is 8-8 and has never even been to the playoffs.

But hearing TO crying sure was enjoyable.

No one expected us to make the playoffs...no one. But we came close w/ a backup QB, no AJ and AG for majority of the year, started-crappy-to-band-aid secondary, and the most injuries in the NFL.

    Positives:
    - Ended up w/ the best record in franchise history,
    - Our #1 pick from '06 played to his #1 pick potential
    - Backups like Rosenfels, AD, Demps, Dayne, etc. played their hearts out to get to 8-8
    - Brought back the excitement of football to Houston

Cowgirls were destined this season from the get-go to win the SB. For them to choke in the 1st round.....greatness.

Seriously, they haven't been 'America's Team' since their last SB win. I think you can give that title to the Patriots. Not only do they win, they get the spotlight from East-coast sports pimp ESPN every time you blink. Heck, even their unis are a play on the flag.

Anyway, as for the thread topic- to be honest, the Cowboys players are pretty likeable this year. It would have been much sweeter if it was the 90's dynasty that choked.

If they went to the Superbowl you can bet they would be pushing themselves as "America's Team" The Cowboys against the Patriots would be cast by Jerry Jones and many others as America's Team from the heartland playing cheating East Coast elites.

yeah, I really don't get the Cowboys hate. They haven't done much to us at all.. or to the Oilers really..

Did you hate the Mavericks in the early-to-mid 90's? Cause I sure didn't.. that was all concentrated on the Jazz and Spurs. (edit: and Sonics)

Then again, I never really hated the Lakers either and that seems to be a popular thing. I think I only hate a team with reason.. (ok, I def. don't like the Yankees, so maybe that theory is out the window.. but the Yanks clearly buy all their players and all that. Something you can't do in other sports. I don't particularly like the Red Sox either for the same reason)

oops, more on topic...feels GREAT being a Texans fan elsewhere. I used to get made fun of for wearing the Texans hats and jerseys and stuff. Now... people don't even ask "are they a team in the NFL? What city?" anymore.. they just continue to think we suck.

Respect is growing, but very little so far. It'll take a big performance in the playoffs or something to get people to realize that we're no longer a doormat..

    Yes. Yes, I did.

The problem with the Mavericks and Cowboys lies in the maxim we've all learned from real estate: location, location, location.

    Dallas sucks.

I hate the Cowboys and all, but it's hard to talk trash as a Texan fan. It will be much easier when we make the playoffs next year. Right now, it kind of feels silly to talk trash to ANYONE. Our time will come, but it ain't right now.

I'm still glad the Cowboys lost. REAL glad.

The more I think about it, the more that's a red herring. The Texans do *not* have to be world-beaters (or even decent) for the Cowboys to suck. These are two separate issues. Regardless of the fate of our own team, the Cowboys suck by virtue of their suck-ball geography.

I really don't hate or like the Cowboys. But you have to admit they are entertaining. My dad was a 3rd generation Dallasite and I have some Cowboys fan in my blood. My grandparents bought me posters and Tony Dorsett jerseys etc. Every Thanksgiving we had to wait to after the game to eat. There wasnt much to hate during the Landry / Staubach / Too Tall era. Those teams were pretty cool. That said, if and when the Texans play them I want to destroy them.

Same here except for the Dallasite part. Grew up a fan of both them & the Oilers. That stopped with the JJ/JJ/Irvin/Smith "crackwagon" era. Then for awhile I stopped caring. It's hard for me to dislike this Cowboys team, though; with Phillips & Romo & TO not being a knucklehead, they were pretty fun to watch.
