    Hi guys and gals,

I wanted to start a new thread so that you wouldn't have to read through all the posts before getting to the interview.

Sorry again for the initial mislead. I thought it would come on right away like all the others. Enjoy.

Great interview. I love when those damn Yankees interview Van Gundy and he actually responds with informative answers. :)

Maybe the quality of the interviews depends on who is asking the questions?

sort of Almu... seems like JVG hasn't got comfortable with Houston interviewers or doesn't seem to respect them.. he is really friendly with the WFAN guys, which is fairly normally considering how many years he was with the Knicks and hwo many interviews he has done with them.. still weird.... he could really win over some for JVG haters with some local interviews that comfortable

I know from talking to people in the media that he is actively hostile towards a number of media members in Houston, particularly on the radio. I just don't think he fits in with Houstonians.

My wife when she moved here from up north (she had lived in New Jersey for a number of years before moving to Houston) said that the perception of southerners was that their politeness was because they were either phony or stupid. She honestly thought that when people said, "Please," "Thank you" and "Yes, ma'am" that they were either morons or making fun of her.

I get the sense that JVG feels much the same way from everything I've been told about the guy.

something that worried me was that he said we have too many players that are "use to losing" and that they were not taking the loses as hard as they should have.

He basically said we sucked. But hey, we have Sura injured. I've bet my house on him coming back and bringing us to the next level. Ward sucked really bad but he has heart. You know Ward has kids to feed and Sprewell did not mean it when he said he has kids to feed. And don't ever say that I overplayed Yao. His conditioning is very good but he gets no calls. Phil Jackson said nice things about me? Hell, I am still a mother ****ing mother ****er!

Is your house a tent in someone's backyard that you were thinking about getting rid of anyway? :) Or is it a van down by the river ...

I think the Rox will play better as the season moves on, since I can't see how they could play much worse than now. I am also sure that by the end of the season JVG's offense will still make most Rox game unwatchable, except for the winning part.

Sounds like JVG agrees that we need a PF who plays physical to take some pounding off Yao.

    Mo, Juwan, watch out!

I think Yao should be doing the pounding in the paint.

If Yao played to his potential the Rockets wouldn't need a power forward.
