For those crying and making threads about James hardens OBVIOUS defensive deficiencies that nobody is even denying:
    http://blog.chron.com/ultimaterockets/2014/05/james-harden-rockets-need-better-focus-next-season/

He knows how serious it is to work on it this summer and what he could be if he got better at it. If what cyberx said about Bruce Bowen helping him is true, he could make big progress as a defender.

Alsop, sorry if this was already posted. But I doubt it was.

I don't know about talent-wise, either, he gets blown by a lot, but if he'd just stop giving up after getting screened once it would help out tremendously. You can hide a crappy but willing defender, you can't play 4 on 5.

The problem people have is that he was saying this at the start of the offseason and then throughout the coarse of the 2013-2014 at having to improve his defence.

We all hope the best for james as he determines how far this team goes but to a lot of us, talk only means so much now when concerning harden talking about his defence

he has the physical tools to be at LEAST a decent defender. Strong as hell, big wingspan.

he's right though. he doesn't focus on defense.

Theres absolutely nothing he can say this offseason that I will care about in a positive way, we've heard all this before from him.

He doesn't try, it's one thing to lack talent, or even have poor fundamentals, but when somebody simply doesn't give an honest effort, yes it pisses me off. I thought he would step up when the games mattered, but not even the playoffs could drag some defensive intensity from him.

I dunno...you can learn and improve offense. But for defense, you just gotta have that instinct.

i can't comprehend how players are lazy on one end and not on the other. i just don't understand how that's mentally possible. How do you unconsciously just divide the two and give opposing efforts? It's really mind boggling to me how he just doesn't even try..

Well, you're talking about becoming aTony Allen. Or a Peak Kevin Garnett. I'm talking about coming a Martell Webster. Or Manu Ginobili.

He is lazy on the offensive end too but his talent distracts from the fact that if he isn't handling the ball he just stands there.

I don't believe we will see him improve much defensively until a coach holds him accountable and presents consequences for his lack of defense. Not an assistant coach, a head coach that will bench his ass.

yeah, that's true...but by watching his defense i'd think he was just a three point chucker on offense, and although he's that too, he at least makes the extra effort to take it to the rim.

I guess he spent/spends too much time playing pick up ball.

These guys are made of flesh and bone. It's not like a design flaw.
