SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Utah Jazz forward Carlos Boozer will miss the rest of the season while he recovers from a foot injury in February.

He has been ordered by his doctor to wear a boot over his right foot for at least three more weeks. Trainer Gary Briggs said Tuesday that Boozer's condition has improved and surgery has been ruled out for now.

Boozer's agent, Rob Pelinka, said his client is encouraged his foot is healing but "devastated" about not playing in Utah's final dozen games this season.

Boozer, averaging a team-high 17.8 points and 9.0 rebounds, sprained his foot at Phoenix on Feb. 14. He spent his first two seasons with Cleveland and signed a $68 million deal with the Jazz last summer.

The Jazz entered Wednesday night's home game against Denver with a 22-48 record, second worst in the Western Conference

Why do I get the feeling the Jazz will win the number 1 pick and draft Bogut/?? If they do, I bet you the lottery is fixed!!!

With Knicks AND Lakers in LottoLand you'd expect Utah to get the #1?

You know that was brought up yesterday, not sure if it was 790AM or 610AM but someone brought that up about the Lakers getting the number 1 pick...

The Jazz have had it rough this year with injuries. Kirilenko and Boozer both.

AK47 is pretty much untouchable, but I wonder if Boozer will get moved out this summer, and how many takers will line up. 18 and 9 isn't bad; and other players have been overpaid worse than Boozer.

I know Cleveland won't be stepping up. :)

As popular as those conspiracies are, is there really any history for them to stand on? The only thing I can think of is Ewing in the first lottery, and that was a full two decades ago.

Listing of NBA #1 picks. Notice that only the following cities have gotten the #1 pick in the Lottery twice: San Antonio, Cleveland, Los Angeles (Clippers), New Jersey, and Orlando.
I'd list the following as #1 lottery pick saviors:
    Code:
    Player	Year	Team
    Ewing	1985	New York
    Robinson 1987	San Antonio
    O'Neal	1992	Orlando
    Iverson	1996	Philadelphia
    Duncan	1997	San Antonio
    James	2003	Cleveland
If anything, the conspiracy should be that they rig the lottery to save struggling, low revenue teams. Not that there's a savior type out there this year.

I wouldn't. His contract wouldn't fit well next to Yao and McGrady's max deals, and he's mind-bogglingly inconsistent. Gigantic questions about his heart and effort on the floor on a night-to-night basis. And if Sloan can't snap him into shape, I don't know how much better JVG's chances are. You never know though, he is just a kid at 23.

How about Tinsley's foot injury, the docs don't even know how to diagnose it. It's just a freakin mystery. I've never heard of that.

Yeah that makes 3 #1s for them.

Houston has 4 or 5 #1s I believe (Lucas, Sampson, Hakeem and Yao).

If Boozer on the block this summer, CD would have to look seriously at it. He would be the best PF available and exactly what Yao needs next to him - a bruiser. Boozer (11.6M) for Howard (5.9M) + Moochie (4.2M) + picks. or Spoon (6.35M) + Baker (3.88M) + picks.

We would still have 3 other expiring contracts, Ward 2.0M, Wesley 4.95M & Baker/Moochie 3.88/4.2M. Assuming we will try and resign Deke & Barry.

Actually the issue is the Jazz would have to look seriously at your trade proposal. Then again, maybe they love the upside presented by Moochie, Spoon & Baker.

I'm not going to propose anything of value. Remember this is the jazz. I only think we could get him if they want picks, someone could offer much better players.

But the thing is teams like Lakers, TrailBlazers, Jazz seldomly goes to lottery draft. So lesser teams are more likely to win the #1 pick. Of course. San Antonio and Houston are special cases. When they are in the lottery, they win big.

The Rox can't trade draft picks for an $11 million salary. They aren't $11 million under the salary cap and won't be no matter what the new CBA is.

Yeah, speaking of tanking the season. The Rox were accused of tanking to get Sampson one year and Olajuwan the next. IIRC that is why the lottery was put in, in the first place. It was to deny the lowest team getting the first pick automatically. Houston was accused of losing games toward the end of the season to get a shot at Hakeem or Sampson, I can't remember which.
