I found this little gem while searching b4-u-eat.com for Thai restaurants in my area. Members from this bbs turned me on to Kanomwan, which has some really awesome Thai food. The wife and I decided to check out Thai Jasmine tonight, and to our surprise we both agreed that the food was even better than Kanomwan. The thing that really puts this place over the top are their spring rolls. We've had spring rolls at many places in the Houston area, and these were by far the freshest and best tasting. For my meal I ordered your standard basil chicken type dish, and it was really good as well. If you're a fan of Thai food and looking to try a new restaurant, I highly recomend this one. It's a little hole in the wall near Almeda Mall, right next to The Hot Dog Stand if you are familiar with that. Great food, great service, and a very reasonable price. It's also BYOB, like Kanomwan. I've been there as well, and both the wife and I enjoy it. It's also the closest Thai restaurant to our house. Still.....we prefer Kanomwan. It's all about the soups for me. If you're close to Thai Jasmine, I also recommend Thai Seafood at Nasa Road 1 and Highway 3. Watch out if you order it spicy though--they don't kid around. They have some excellent dishes in there, and their service is superb. I also recommend Bay Thai in Kemah if you ever want Thai as a special night out kind of thing. They operate out of a house on 2nd street (or is it ave?), and they have weird hours (only dinner, six nights a week, I believe). Their service is slow, but this isn't the type of restaurant you go in to for a quick meal at. It sounds kind of weird, but I highly recommend the lobster avocado coconut curry. Talk about rich! Still, for every time we eat at all the Thai restaurants we've been to all over the world combined, we still eat more at Kanomwan--it's my favorite.
Kanomwan does have awesome soup, and we didn't try any last night at Thai Jasmine. Next time I'll be sure to check it out. Thanks for the other reccomendations. We live in Deer Park, so we're always looking for new places to try on the southeast side of town.
Thanks for the tip ! I work around there often. Noticed that place is next to a few strip clubs, too. Maybe the talent will drop in for lunch. I like a couple of places near there. There's a bubble-tea and sandwich place called Boba-T-licious in a strip center at Kingspoint and the mall access road. They have really good sandwiches - very fresh, and the lattle bubble tea is really good. down that access road closer to Fuqua is Pho 21 - they have good Pho and Bun, the cha giao is good, the spring rolls are good. Some pretty waitresses sometimes, too. Fox hair is a deal on Kingspoint, and the girls are nice. $ 5.00 haircut. I occasionally get a manicure, too, for an extra $ 6.00. I just like watching the girl stroke that hand lotion. Mmm... yeah, sure, give me TWO manicures. More lotion, please. .
