I know I asked Pippen vs Kobe, but I was wondering who you would take Prime Glide or Present Kobe?

    And why?

If you say Clyde, would you take Clyde over Prime Scottie?

    Clyde over Scottie yes...

Clyde versus Kobe would be a wash.

I know that all the Rockets fans will be 99% in agreement that Drexler is 10X's better...

What might give Kobe the edge is that he has a pet shot, the 15 ft fadeaway that he can rely on.

I don't remember Drexler too well from the late 80s, as I was only like 7 years old, but I don't think he really had a go-to shot. Also, I don't remember how clutch Drexler was. Kobe is one of the most clutch players in the game today. I do remember Drexler using a fadeaway on guys like Del Negro in 95...

Defensively, I think they are about even.

They both are similar size and similar athleticism.

Tough to say. Though I'm 90% sure that Kobe will be better than Drexler within the next 10 years. To think Kobe can be this good, while not using his head all the time, is a scary thought.

People hate to compare him or anyone to MJ, but I think they are pretty similar as far as where they are physically and mentally at the same age.

MJ didn't reach another level until Phil came along and forced MJ to buy into the team concept.

Sounds kind of like Kobe from the last few years...

I must be part of the 1%. I think Kobe is probably better than Clyde ever was.

Clyde's the better athlete but he never had the killer instinct Kobe allready possesses.

And it also depends what kind of situations... One-on-one I'd give the not to Kobe(barely), but in a team format, Drexler just provides so many other things- rebounds, steals, shut-outs, and more fast breaks.

Kobe has the better jumpshot, but Clyde sets up his teammates to compensate.

Clyde. If he was playing with Shaq right now (Drexler in his prime), this would all be about "Is Kobe close to being the player Clyde is?" He showed what he could do with a dominant center at the end of his career.

I love it how people assume that Kobe does not setup his teammates at all.

At least 2-3 times a game, Kobe gets an assist off of his JUMPSHOT. Where Kobe jumps up for a jumper, then spots Rick Fox, or another Laker cutting to the hoop for a wide open layup.

Also, Kobe always gets nice assists to Shaq off of drive and dishes.
I think Kobe's assists totals wouldn't be far off from Clyde's. Especially if you consider that Shaq has the ball in his hands a lot of the time.

Clyde's stats would suffer, and people would view Clyde as a 2nd banana. Which means this thread probably would not have been created in the first place.

Ridiculous Scar. When has Bryant ever led a team to the playoffs? Oh that's right, never. Drexler was the best player, by far (that means he was the MAIN focus of the defense, not able to relax while the defense double and triple-teamed another guy), on a team that went to the Finals twice. Bryant isn't even the best player on his own team.

Does that really f-ing matter? Fact is that Clyde won as many titles "by himself" as Kobe has, ZERO.

Moreover, Por had much more talent than you think.

I'd like to see Kobe look at the floor and go coast to coast. Who else can do that.

I did say I think Kobe was "probably" better. I am not certain and it is more based on my perception, because playing along with Shaq does muddy things up. However, Clyde certainly got outplayed at his position both times he made it to the finals as the team leader, so that isn't exactly a feather in his cap.
