Right wing conservative/conservative republicans don't necessarily equal "bigotry". You're using a few to blame the many.

Funny thing is, since joining this BBS, my political views have pretty steadily shifted center-right... the only thing that has slowed it down has been our bitter BBS triplets and conservative media flame-tards pushing me away at every moment.

The tiny tent party... not a lot of room on that life boat.

 

Don't get on the life boat, don't get in the tiny tent. Find out what you believe, get a core set of ideals and side with people based on that. Get away from the bigots, the hate-mongers, go with your core values and the let chips fall where they may. Don't let haters make you stray one way or another, go one way or another based on your beliefs, their are bigots everywhere.

Just because I share certain beliefs of those in the "tiny tent" doesn't mean I share ALL their beliefs, and just because I share certain beliefs of those in the "tiny tent" doesn't mean I'm IN the tiny tent. Just because people share similar beliefs/ideals doesn't mean they should get automatically grouped into a "tiny tent", I would gladly get out of any said area if there was hate going on.

It would be nice if more conservative Republicans who supposedly aren't in the "tiny tent" would speak up. The problem is most conservative leaders still believe in the tiny tent and likely need another electoral smackdown to come to their senses. People like Rush Limbaugh, Newt "the Nut" Gingrich and others will continue on their merry way until GOP leaders have the guts to openly criticize them without bowing down and kissing their ring a couple of days later.

 

define "tiny tent" please. andplease enumerate how the "bitterness" you perceive on the right is any different from the last 8 years of venow from the left/ further, explain why that (apparently) gave you no pause, but rush/hannity (whom i've never paid any mind) push you away.

Honestly, you've got the best political conditions of all time for the libs in 2008, and it still takes a stock market crash to propel them to a narrow win. 47% of voters voted against Obama, despite having every possible advantage going his way. The majority of the country still leans right on the issues, which is what makes Obama's ultra left wing lurch even more disgusting.

 

Few things. I'm a conservative. I was speaking to what he referred to as "tiny tent", which I assumed meant a few haters he's encountered and I was trying to get him to realize that someones ideals and beliefs can't be so fickle that they would change because he encountered a few people he doesn't agree with.

There is no doubt there was 8 years of that before and it's on both sides of the fence, didn't feel that was important to mention because it would spark an argument on which side spews more hate, conservatives and liberals and that argument gets old.

Also, Rush/Hannity don't push me away, well, Hannity does now because recently he's turned into nothing but a hater, but Rush doesn't, he' s entertaining and thinks of things nobody else does. Don't agree with everything he says but enjoy listening.

 

Once again though, we're assuming that just because somebody is a conservative, they have to be in a "tiny tent". I'm not sure why that is? Because of a few that we see on the news all the time that people don't like? I consider myself a conservative, but I'm not a bigot, I don't feel like I belong to any "tiny tent", I would like to know what a "tiny tent" is, and why people feel like most conservatives are in it? Because we believe in something? I'm not sure.

 

If I weren't used to highly misleading titles in the D&D, I would ratchet up some Fox outrage.
