Didn't see a thread like this on the boards, but it just seems crazy to me, especially Florida State. I've always said I like the bowls just because it makes the regular season count, but now Fla St. who lost it's last 3 games before last night will be in one of the BCS. If things like this can happen, you might as well have a playoff system. Though I must say with Georgia, they actually are fairly deserving, but still...... damn.
I like the current system. Championship Saturday is my favorite day for college football even though yesterday was pretty boring. Now maybe they could tinker the system a little bit. For instance the Big 12 north is way behind the Big 12 south and it appears to be that way for atleast a couple more years. Maybe they should just take the two best teams from the conference regardless of what region there from. This would have resulted in a Tech UT game most likely a tad more competive game than yesterdays game but in most years it will be another UT OU game that can't be a bad thing for college football. Than I believe the other game would have been Va Tech versus Miami. Nobody would question if Miami desereved it if they could have beaten Va Tech twice. Now the Big 10 and Pac 10 defintely have to have a championship game its not fair for the other conferences to have an extra game versus a team that is usually pretty dang good.
With the 5th bowl coming next year (or is it 2007?), that means there are 10 BCS teams. It will certainly help with controversy as to who is deserving (this year: Oregon) and who isn't (Ohio State), at least a little bit and will definitely help mid-majors get the big bucks (TCU). I still think it would make much much much more sense to, with 10 BCS teams, take the top 10 in the polls and let them all play. Again, Oregon this year, Cal last year; they lost to the best team in the nation and they get screwed. What is the point of the polls if they aren't being used in the end??? Oh and I'll clarify: I don't think Ohio State is undeserving necessarily, but compared to Oregon, they don't deserve it. And I hate Ohio State. Or, the ACC could get their head out of their asses and realign the divisions. I'm sorry, but when their scheduled in-conference games (on paper) have Miami and no one else worth mentioning (no VT this year), they lose 4 and STILL make it to the title game... .
B12 North used to dominate. The ACC divisions will have it's up and downs as well. FSU beat Miami, VT and BC. Not too shabby. That's more impressive than what Notre Dame, Ohio St, Oregon or West Virginia has done.
Ohio State has losses to the #2 and #3 teams in the nation, and is #4 in the BCS. They are a much better team than Oregon, who hasn't beaten ANYONE this year.
NCAA don't give a d*mn as long as they can put Notre Dame in one of them not matter how horrible they are Rocket River
The FSU thing is ridiculous...I mean, c'mon, the only thing good to come of that game is this... I'm glas UofH is bowling in Ft. Worth so I can go...
