To paraphrase: 'Not enough to bring it down'...and...'they'' be mourning again on 9-13'....what's in Miami?

The bridge to the Keys? Does that get much traffic?

    Other tidbits from CNN:
They didn't want their car searched.
Canine unit alerted to presence of explosives.
They caugh-up with them because they ran a toll booth.

I was thinking the same thing. I am just hoping that this isn't one of like 6 groups of guys on their way to do something. As for what is down there...who knows..plenty of big universities, thats for sure. Perhaps a stadium? Its a scary thought.

The recklessness of the suspects leads me to speculate that this is not al Queda.

    1) Why would they be openly discussing plans in public, at Shoney's? Why would they be using English? Why talk loud enough where people can hear you?

    2) Al Queda's instruction books guide members to be very careful about not breaking the law (aside from the obvious law they're breaking) when executing a "mission". These suspects blew threw a toll booth without paying -- thereby drawing attention to themselves.

    Seems odd.

Well the bomb squad has already detonated something. They blew up some back-pack looking object which was shown on tv. MSNBC was also reporting that a "triggering device" was found in the car.

There was a backpack that was detonated...the guy clearly said that no explosives were found in the car as of yet...a tiny contradiction id say...who knows

Yeah but didn't a couple of the 9/11 terrorists spend some time in a strip joing making comments the night (or a few days before) about their mission (not specifics but that America was going to pay, etc).

A couple of additions - The waitress heard this while working in Calhoun, GA (A town between Chattanooga, TN and Atlanta, GA). Also - they were heading west - toward Naples, FL. I'm not sure what's in Naples - besides rich folks beachfront homes.

You sure they were heading West? I heard this morning from MSNBC that they were heading EAST towards Miami. I've been at work for an hour, though, so maybe they sorted out the facts. If they were heading West that would seemingly be worse, as the possibility exists that they dumped their bombs off with others in Miami and were now making the get-away. That would explain the bomb-sniffing dogs detecting a scent, but the police not finding any bombs.

I agree with what Jorge said (for about the 1st time).

The overall sloppiness does NOT sound like Al Queda.

I'm not sure who's right. Yahoo said it was West. <a href="http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&ncid=578&e=2&cid=578&u=/nm/20020913/ts_nm/crime_florida_dc">Story</a>

"Florida authorities said the three men were stopped heading west toward Naples on the Gulf Coast."

    All 3 individuals 'extremely uncooperative'

Regarding slopiness...aside from the 9-11 idiots boasting in public what they were going to do...CNN mentioned 2 of the 9-11 groups had been stopped by police for traffic violations just prior to the hijackings, so it actually 'fits the profile'.

They also said that drug-runners have decoy cars run tolls, but it doesn't make sense that the second car stopped if that were the intent (there could have been more cars, but why stop a second car on its own volition)?
