Okay, Flo Rida came to our university to perform today

All was good, the music was pumping, and the place was going off.

Now what I found funny was that during the middle of the performance, he gave two of his gold chains (bling blings) to two girls who were invited onto the stage.

Later on, he came up with some random excuse along the lines of "If you want me to go into the audience, I will have collect all the gold on the stage" and subsequently took the two chains back.

Now I understand those two chains are probably worth alot, but is it customary for performers to take back something they gave away?

Seemed a bit cheap to me...

He probably came to the realization that gold is worth something.

On a related note, I don't know who Flo Rida is.

Considering Flo Rida has had only one "hit" song, I would understand why he would want his jewelry back.

Flo Rida is just livin up the rep behind his name.

You forget that in 2000, Florida gave this nation Gore as president, then took him away from us.

    Nice, didnt see that coming

Back to topic, for me, I just found his way of getting back his gold quite awkward, and ruined it for me in a way

This has happened with other rappers before. It's more a part of the show. The chains were probably worth 4-5 figures, I wouldn't call not wanting to give those away "cheap".

It's just like the women, mansions and Benz's in rap videos. It's all part of the show.

I too once saw Flo Rida perform. it was at an underground venue, and it was an unannounced performance.

A lot of people don't realize that most of that stuff is rented, leased, loaned, or borrowed.

I've read articles that have suggested most of the jewelry that rappers wear around are fakes. I think I remember Ice Cube being quoted in an article saying you'd have to be a fool to wear the jewelry in public if it were real.

Second, how much money do you really think a guy like Flo Rida has? People really don't understand how little money musicians make in comparison to pro athletes and actors. I'd wager that, if lucky, Flo Rida has probably made a few hundred thousand dollars at this point in his career. Considering he's unlikely to have another hit as big as the one he has, he'd be a fool to purchase gaudy jewelry, let alone give it away to random broads at a college show.

Well, you have to realize that rappers are some of the wealthiest musicians. They make alot of money from mixtapes and they do more investing. Don't know much about Flo Rida but alot of the new rappers have already been makin a killing on the underground scene. It's almost a requirement for a rapper to sell thousands of units before getting signed, which can get to be alot of money when it all goes directly to you. Also, there are a few of them that get their income from other illegal activities.

...And it depends on what you call fake. I've heard Baby and Puffy both have chains in the million dollar range and you can tell, the stones on them are huge. Other rappers have stuff that's plated and has the, much cheaper, crushed diamonds on them.

He's got another single out now called "Ayer" that is one of the most worthless pieces of garbage I've ever heard. Somewhere PAC and Biggie are rolling over in their graves.

WTF. "Ayer" means "yesterday" in Spanish but pronounced "ah-yehr", not "a-ur". Which is where this sort of music will be forgotten.

EDIT: I retract that statement. The beat is nice and the song is kind of catch. I just don't know what the F he's saying in the song. :D
