I always want to upgrade my traditional bulky SVGA monitor to a flat panel LCD monitor. I do not know much about the LCD market though. So please help me. I found a NEC/Mitshubishi AccuSync LCD7V 17" at $429 with free shipping. Is it a good deal? Please give me advice if you are familiar with the LCD market. Thanks.

Thanks codell, that saves me $30 already. But is the quality of this LCD good? Any other LCD with better quality at comparable price. Actually I would like to get a 19" one if I can afford it (most likely I cannot though). Thanks.
The samsungs ones are very expensive. I found a Philips 180B2S 18.1 inch at $459.99. Anyone knows things about the LCDs made by Philips? Geeze, this is a tough decision. Thanks for you guy's help.
It comes down to a choice between: (1) a NEC/Mitshubishi AccuSync LCD7V 17" at $399.00 with $10 shipping and (2) a Philips 180B2S 18.1 inch at $459.99. with $24 shipping. I still can't make my decision. Please help me!!!
I've been putting in 17" Samsungs and 15" Philips at work. I am not blown away by the Philips LCD. It's not bad -- the pictures's okay, I just don't like the monitor too well. I don't like the stand it's on, I don't like the controls, the picture isn't AWESOME, etc. However, those Samsungs are fantastic! I am a die-hard CRT fan, but I have started to consider LCDs after having seen those!
I've got 2 20-inch flat panel LCD's at home. One is Dell's (rebadged as Dell anyway) and it's pretty good. I also have a Planar 20" LCD monitor that I also like. Most LCD's look best when driven via a DVI port on your video cards. As a matter of fact, there are LCD's that look like utter crap when you use the VGA connection instead of the DVI connection. Another consideration is that some of the lower-quality and cheaper LCD's have terrible latency/response times that make for ghosting on the screen when playing fast-moving games, for example. All I can say is do your research first. Tons of links and reviews on all kinds of LCD monitors are online.
Is 50ms reponse time acceptable? If it's not too much trouble, can someone check out the specification of this LCD and give me some feedbacks? Thanks
