In five who will be the best player on the Rockets. You could give your arguments for Griffin, Francis, or Ming. As I sit here and think about it I would like to say Francis, but it is a rather difficullt question. If I had to bet my own money on it, I would guess Ming. It seems he already has a lot of skills with not that much experiance in the NBA. And its not that often when a rookie leads that NBA in fg% when skipping out on summer league and most of the preseason games. I think after 2 or 3 years after he gets some proffesionaly guided weight training he will be tough to stop. Of course I could be wrong Griffin could be as good or better, and Francis is already pretty good.
You can argue all three of these guys. Francis is already one of the best pg's and players in the NBA. Ming has the biggest potential, and could be a dominant player (center) especially with the absence of other quality true centers. Griffin is the biggest enigma of that bunch. He could be the most talented of all three. He has all of the super skills to pull that off, he just needs to be more cerebral on the court, as well as more consistent. He already has the defensive presence (which is tough to learn). Now all he has to do is continue to develop and learn and show that he can fit into the offensive side of the game on a more regular basis.
Francis will allways be the Rockets best player. Griffin and Yao are both going to be great role players, just like Mobley will be. But if Francis can stay heathy through his career the sky is the limit.
Ming won't be able to surpass Francis. Francis is already the man and I don't think that will change. If Ming or Griffin were on a different team than Francis where they were THE man on that team, they would possibly surpass Francis, but not on a team with an established star like Francis.
Depends on your definition of best. If best means the best personal stats, maybe Steve. But if best means bring the rest of the team to play at a higher level and winning games, definitely Ming. Defensive dominance in the paint, offensively being double-teamed, great court vision, find the open teammates with easy shoots. These don't show up in the stats, but they let you win games and championships. Kobe could store 45 points and have triple double every game, but he couldn't lead Lakers to win any games without Shaq.
You have to have a good post player, but you can win with a great guard. But you have to have some help down in the post. Kobe could get really far in the playoffs. But he would at least need some help, but right now he has none. Of course i mean when Shaq is out. By the way I dont like Kobe... I just wanted to get that straight.
Dream on!! All you guys that think that Yao Ming wont be the Rox best player in five years! How about three years for Yao Ming not to be the team leader but the top scorer on the team!
